Description
Yato cordless magnetic drill 18V (YT-820507) is a cordless magnetic drill that attaches to a steel structure with a magnetic base with a holding force of 11000 N and drills holes up to 35 mm with an annular cutter or 13 mm with a twist drill. The spindle runs at 0–540 min⁻¹, and the tool holder is Weldon 3/4″ (19 mm). The machine runs on a Yato 18 V Li-Ion battery; the battery and charger are purchased separately.
The magnetic base holds the machine in place on horizontal and vertical surfaces and upside down, so holes can be drilled in beams, profiles and plates directly on site. The slide on the vertical guide is moved with the spindle feed lever: the stroke is 120 mm and the maximum drilling depth 50 mm. Manual feed guides the drill perpendicularly and gives a repeatable hole.
The control panel has the power switch, speed selector, direction switch (FWD/REV), magnet indicator light and battery charge indicator. The magnet switch turns the holding force on and off. The machine comes with a coolant tank that feeds cutting fluid to the drilling point through a valve.
The machine weighs 12 kg without the battery. A ferromagnetic steel base thicker than 20 mm is recommended; for a thinner base, an additional steel plate is used. The noise level is LpA 86 dB(A) and LwA 99 dB(A), vibration 6.5 m/s².
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless magnetic drill 18V is designed for drilling holes in steel structures, beams, profiles, plates and other ferromagnetic workpieces where mains power is not available.
- Steel structure installation: Drilling bolt holes in the steel structures of halls, bridges and industrial installations directly on site.
- Machine shops and repair work: Holes in beams, mounting plates and machine bases without moving the workpiece to a pillar drill.
- Vertical and upside-down surfaces: Drilling in wall-like structures and ceiling beams; in these positions, cutting paste or spray is used, and a rope or chain is used as fall protection.
- Annular drilling: Weldon-shank HSS and TCT annular cutters up to 35 mm in diameter, cooling from the tank.
The machine belongs to the Yato 18 V battery system. A suitable power source is the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and for charging, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger.

Yato cordless magnetic drill 18V user instructions:
Fitting the tool: Remove the battery. If necessary, insert the pilot pin into the annular cutter, place the cutter in the spindle holder and tighten the fixing screws until you feel resistance. Check that the cutter has no play.
Attaching to the base: Fit the battery so that the indicator lights work. Clean chips, oil, paint and loose rust from the contact surfaces of the magnetic base and the workpiece. Place the machine at the drilling point and turn the magnet switch to the holding position; the magnet indicator light comes on. Check gently that the machine does not move. At height and in vertical or upside-down positions, also secure the machine with a rope or chain.
Drilling: Set the direction switch to FWD and make sure the drill does not touch the workpiece. Start with the power button and select the speed with the speed selector. Open the coolant valve halfway and feed the drill evenly with the feed lever without jerking. After drilling, pull the drill out, stop the spindle and release the magnet only once the spindle has stopped.
Chips and cooling: Chips and the drilled slug are hot: remove them with a brush only after the motor has stopped. In vertical and overhead positions, use cutting paste or spray so that fluid does not run into the machine.
Maintenance and storage: Remove the battery before maintenance. Clean the housing, ventilation openings and magnetic base with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth. Lubricate the sliding parts of the vertical guide regularly. Store the machine in a dry place, with the battery and drills kept separately.
Warnings:
- Do not attach the machine to thin sheet metal or a dirty surface; weak holding can release the machine.
- Use fall protection (rope or chain) at height and in vertical and upside-down positions.
- Do not lean on the machine or apply lateral force to it: pressing hard can move the machine even though the magnet is locked.
- Do not touch rotating parts; wear safety glasses, hearing protection, protective gloves and safety footwear.
- Chips, the slug, the drilled hole and the drill are hot after use.
- Do not exceed the maximum permitted speed of the drill, and do not press the drill too hard or at an angle.
- Prevent coolant from running onto the machine body and electrical parts.
- Do not use the machine continuously for more than 3 hours, and do not leave it unattended with the battery fitted.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What hole sizes can the Yato cordless magnetic drill 18V drill? Up to 35 mm with an annular cutter and up to 13 mm with a twist drill; the maximum drilling depth is 50 mm.
How thick does the steel need to be for the machine to attach? The recommendation is ferromagnetic steel thicker than 20 mm. On a thinner base, a sufficiently rigid additional steel plate is used.
Can the machine drill upside down? Yes. The machine is suitable for horizontal, vertical and upside-down positions; in these cases, fall protection and cutting paste or spray are used.
Is a battery included? No. The machine runs on Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries YT-828461–YT-828465, which are purchased separately.
Which annular cutters fit the machine? Annular cutters with a Weldon 3/4″ (19 mm) shank, for example Yato sets YT-43400 and YT-43405 (HSS) and YT-43410 and YT-43413 (TCT).
Recycling instructions:
The Yato cordless magnetic drill 18V is electrical and electronic equipment that must not be disposed of with mixed waste: take it to a WEEE collection point. Take Li-Ion batteries to a battery collection point with the terminals taped; damaged batteries must not be transported. Take used cutting fluid and chips to collection in line with local instructions, and sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection.
