Yato cordless grass and hedge shears brushless (YT-828336) is a handheld 18 V cordless tool with a brushless motor and two interchangeable blades: a 100 mm grass blade for lawn edges and a 200 mm hedge trimmer blade for shaping shrubs. The body-only model is supplied without a battery or charger.
The motor speed is 15,000 min⁻¹ and the blade cutting speed 1200 min⁻¹, with a power of 100 W. The brushless motor has no wearing carbon brushes. The maximum cutting width stated by the manufacturer is 92 mm with the grass blade and 180 mmwith the hedge trimmer blade.
The blades are changed without tools: press the two locking buttons, place the blade on the body and the latches lock it. The shears can be attached to the separately sold telescopic pole YT-828337, so lawn edges can be cut standing up, with the shears supported on wheels. The power switch has a lock that prevents accidental starting.
The shears use Yato 18V system batteries and chargers, so the same batteries also fit other tools in the range. Without the battery, the shears weigh 0.98 kg, and their electrical protection class is III. Battery operation is quiet, and no extension cable is needed.

The Yato cordless grass and hedge shears brushless are designed for finishing ornamental lawns in places a lawn mower cannot reach and for shaping small hedges and ornamental shrubs. For larger lawn areas, the same range includes the Yato cordless trimmer 18V 25-30 cm, body only, and a suitable battery for the shears is, for example, the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery, which is charged, for example, with the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger charger.
- Lawn edges: the grass blade cuts edges next to paths, paving, walls, fences, trees and shrubs.
- Small hedges and ornamental shrubs: the hedge trimmer blade shapes low hedges, ball and cone shapes and border plantings.
- Young shoots and thin branches: soft shoots and small branches; thick woody branches are not cut.
- Working standing up: with the telescopic pole YT-828337 and the grass blade, without bending down.
The shears are not designed for cutting lawn areas larger than 2 m².

Changing the blade: make sure the switch is not pressed and wear protective gloves. Press both blade locking buttons, place the blade on the body so that the drive pin engages the blade’s drive gear and the body pin goes into the hole in the blade, and release the buttons. Remove the blade by pressing both buttons.
Battery: Push the battery into the battery slot of the shears contacts first until the latch locks. The shears use Yato 18V batteries YT-828461…YT-828465, which are charged with Yato chargers YT-828498…YT-828504.
Starting: move the switch lock with your thumb and press the switch with your index finger; the lock can be released while the switch is pressed. The shears stop when the switch is released, but the blade may keep moving for a moment.
Cutting grass: guide the shears so that the blade is not between your hand and body. Cut grass taller than 15–20 cm in two stages. The blade must not touch the ground, stones or woody parts. When attaching to the telescopic pole, fit the grass blade and battery first.
Cutting shrubs: use the hedge trimmer blade and cut only thin, soft branches. If a branch jams between the blades, release the switch immediately and carefully remove the branch.
Maintenance and storage: keep the ventilation openings clean and the outer surface temperature below 60 °C. Before long-term storage, charge the battery, remove the blade, clean it and protect it with a thin layer of machine oil and the blade cover. Store in a dry, dark and ventilated place out of the reach of children.
Warnings:
- Keep hands and feet away from the blade; the blade keeps moving for a moment after the switch is released.
- Remove the battery before changing the blade, clearing blockages, maintenance and storage.
