Description
The Yato flexible extension bar 1/4″ x 300 mm with magnet is designed especially for demanding installation and maintenance work where direct access to the screw head or nut is blocked. This tool is an indispensable aid in vehicle repair workshops, industrial assembly tasks and demanding installation sites alike. The flexible, spring-like design of the extension bar lets you transmit torque at an angle, so you can reach spots that rigid extension bars cannot reach or bend to.
A key feature of the product is its integrated magnet, located in the chuck. The magnet holds bits, sockets or screws firmly in place during installation, which prevents parts from dropping into cramped engine bays or inside machinery. This improves work efficiency significantly, as the fitter does not have to spend time looking for dropped parts.
The 300 mm length of the extension bar gives excellent reach to deep-set fixings. Both ends of the bar have a standard 1/4″ (6.3 mm) connection, which makes it compatible with almost all 1/4″ ratchets, screwdrivers and socket sets on the market. This universal compatibility makes it a versatile addition to any toolbox.
It is made of high-grade steel that withstands torsion and wear. Although the flexible design is not intended for the very highest tightening torques, it is optimised to transmit torque efficiently even when the bar is bent. The metal surface structure protects the bar against corrosion and mechanical wear, ensuring a long service life for the tool.
In terms of ergonomics and usability, the Yato flexible extension bar is designed to speed up work steps. Its flexibility helps you get past obstacles and also reduces the need to dismantle surrounding structures to reach a single fixing. This saves considerable time and effort in complex maintenance processes.
Intended use:
This flexible extension bar is designed for versatile use across industries and maintenance tasks. Its ability to bend and transmit torque makes it the solution where space is tight.
- Automotive industry and engine servicing: The product is ideal for working in the tight gaps of an engine bay, such as loosening hose clamps, removing spark plug covers or handling other deep-set bolts that a straight tool cannot fit.
- Furniture and cabinet assembly: In furniture installation, fixings are often inside cabinets, in corners or close to the back wall. The flexible bar lets you drive screws without the body of the driver hitting the cabinet walls, preventing surface damage.
- Electrical and electronics installation: Inside electrical cabinets and equipment enclosures, components are often tightly packed. The extension bar lets you tighten terminal screws and fixings safely between components without having to dismantle the whole assembly.
- HVAC and plumbing installation: Fitting pipe brackets and fixings in tight ducts or behind sink cabinets is easier when the driving tool can be brought to the target at an angle past the pipes.

Yato flexible extension bar instructions for use:
Setting up and use: Attach the female end of the flexible extension bar to a ratchet, screwdriver handle or cordless drill with a 1/4″ drive (mind the torque). Fit the 1/4″ socket or bit holder of your choice to the magnetic end of the extension bar. Make sure the magnet grips and the part stays firmly in place. Guide the tool to the target, bending the bar as needed. Start turning gently.
Notes on applying force: Because the bar is flexible, part of the torque is taken up by the twisting of the bar (torsion). Where space allows, hold the outer sleeve of the extension bar near the tip with your other hand to guide it accurately (depending on the model, the sleeve may rotate with the bar, so wear protective gloves). Do not use excessive force; the flexible bar is intended mainly for light and medium torque, not for loosening seized bolts.
Maintenance: Clean dirt and oil off the extension bar after use. Wipe it with a lightly oiled cloth to prevent rust, especially if you work in damp conditions. Check regularly that the flexible part of the bar is intact and free of cracks.
Warnings:
- Torque limit: Flexible extension bars cannot withstand as much torque as rigid bars. Do not use the product with impact wrenches (air guns) or to loosen very tight bolts, as the bar may be damaged or break.
- Rotating parts: If you use the extension bar with a power tool, watch out for loose clothing, hair or gloves that can get caught on the rotating bar.
- Safety glasses: Always wear safety glasses when working with tools, especially if you put the bar under heavy strain.
- Electrical safety: The product is made of metal and conducts electricity. Do not use it near live parts without proper insulation.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Can this extension bar be used with an impact wrench?
Not recommended. The flexible design absorbs the impact force and can be damaged by the high torque of an impact tool. The product works best with hand ratchets or cordless drills at moderate torques.
How far can the bar be bent?
The bar can be bent up to 90 degrees, but the steeper the angle, the harder it is to transmit torque efficiently. We recommend keeping the angle as shallow as possible for the best result.
Is the magnet strong enough to hold a spark plug?
The magnet is designed to hold bits and light screws. For heavier parts such as spark plugs, we recommend using a proper spark plug socket with its own rubber holder or magnet.
Recycling instructions:
Packaging:
Sort the cardboard packaging as cardboard. Sort the blister plastic as plastic.
Product:
A broken or worn tool at the end of its life is mainly metal. It should be taken to metal recycling so that the raw material can be reused in industry.
