Description
Yato YT-24762 fin comb / radiator comb is a special tool designed to restore the original geometry of the aluminium fins of air conditioners, refrigerators and heat exchangers. Its main job is to straighten mechanically bent fins, which reduces resistance to airflow and optimises the thermodynamic efficiency of the equipment.
The tool works with narrow, precisely sized teeth that are pushed between the damaged fins. This lets you straighten individual aluminium fins gradually without tearing the material or breaking the structure, unlike when using conventional pliers or lever tools.
The choice of materials reflects the requirements of industrial maintenance work. The body and working parts of the tool are made of aluminium alloy and stainless steel. This combination of alloys guarantees high wear resistance, prevents the tool from deforming under stress and gives excellent corrosion resistance in damp and changing working conditions.
The straightening tool is operated entirely by hand, which allows fast, precise work by feel directly at the installation site without external power sources. Regular coil maintenance with this tool ensures stable operation of cooling and heating systems, prevents compressors from overloading because of blocked airflow and significantly extends the life cycle of the whole refrigeration system.
Intended use and suitability:
- Air conditioning systems and heat pumps: Suitable for servicing the coils of the outdoor and indoor units of air-to-air heat pumps, air-to-water heat pumps and air conditioners in residential and industrial buildings. Straightens condenser and evaporator fins bent during installation, maintenance or vandalism, which restores the designed airflow and heat transfer capacity.
- Refrigeration and freezer equipment: Designed for professional use in the maintenance of commercial refrigeration such as restaurant cold rooms, chest freezers and industrial cooling machinery. Returns fins that may have been flattened by dust or ice build-up and its removal to their original position.
- Heat exchangers of vehicles and work machines: Can be used for straightening the coolant radiators, intercoolers and air conditioning coils of heavy vehicles, work machines and other vehicles, where mechanical stress regularly damages the shape of unprotected fins.
Package contents:
- 1 pc Yato YT-24762 fin comb
Features:
- Material: Made of stainless steel and aluminium alloy, which guarantees complete corrosion resistance and a long service life in industrial conditions.
- Tooth geometry: Thin, precision-machined teeth let the tool slip between even dense fins without damaging the surface of the soft aluminium fins.

Yato YT-24762 instructions for use:
Before starting maintenance work, always make sure the equipment is isolated from the power supply and the safety switch is locked in position. Clean loose dirt, dust and grease thoroughly off the coil before you start straightening, for the best result.
Place the teeth of the fin comb carefully in an undamaged part of the bent fins, right next to or above the damaged area. Pull or push the comb slowly and with even force along the original direction of the fins, so that the teeth guide the bent fins back to a 90-degree angle to the tubes.
For large bends, repeat the procedure slowly and gradually if needed. Avoid fast, jerky movements so that the thin aluminium does not tear. After use, clean the tool by wiping it with a dry or lightly oiled cloth.
Warnings:
- Risk of cuts: The aluminium fins of heat exchangers and condensers are very thin and razor-sharp. Always wear suitable cut-resistant gloves during maintenance work to avoid deep cuts.
- Risk of the material breaking: Aluminium is a metal that fatigues easily. Avoid bending the same spot back and forth; aim to straighten a fin with one or at most two even strokes.
- Damage to the system: Do not push the tool too deep into the coil, so that you do not damage the copper tubes containing refrigerant behind the fins. A leak in a copper tube always needs a refrigerant repair carried out by a professional.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What types of coils is the Yato YT-24762 compatible with?
The tool is designed for standard-sized straight aluminium fins used in most modern HVAC equipment, heat pumps and refrigeration machines. The thin teeth also allow use on coils with a denser fin spacing, provided the tool can physically be inserted between the fins without force.
Can this tool repair a completely flattened coil?
If the aluminium fins are completely broken or folded over more than 90 degrees flat against the tube, the microstructure of the metal has probably already been damaged. In such cases, an attempt to straighten them often breaks the fin for good. The comb is intended mainly for straightening milder bends and installation damage to restore airflow.
How is the comb maintained and cleaned?
Because the tool is made entirely of steel and aluminium, it can be washed under running water, with a mild detergent or with industrial degreasers. It is important to dry the tool carefully after wet cleaning.
Recycling instructions:
Product: Because the product is made only of aluminium and stainless steel, it can be fully recycled in metal collection at the end of its life. The metals are melted down and reused in industry.
Packaging: Any cardboard packaging materials are sorted into cardboard collection and plastic parts, such as hangers or bubble wrap from the retail packaging, into plastic collection according to local waste regulations.
