Description
The Yato YT-72920 is a compact but high-performance diagnostic tool for detecting and visualising temperature differences. The device has a VOX microbolometer with a native resolution of 96 x 96 pixels. Using innovative Super Resolution technology, the camera generates thermal images with an effective resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. Together with a relatively fast refresh rate of 18 Hz, this ensures a smooth, clear image, which makes it easier to locate temperature anomalies quickly.
The camera can measure temperatures over a wide range in two different modes: -20°C – +150°C and 100°C – 550°C. Measuring accuracy is high, ±2°C or ±2%, and the thermal sensitivity (NETD) of the device is ≤ 60 mK at 25°C, which allows even subtle temperature differences to be distinguished. The 50° x 50° field of view (FOV) and fixed focus make the device easy to use for quick inspections in the field.
The device has a 2.4 inch colour LCD display (240 x 320 px) and a built-in 640 x 480 px photo camera. Images and videos can be viewed with five different colour palettes and in several image modes, including thermal image only, photo with temperature data or a combined image. For storage, the camera has 8 GB of internal memory (about 6.5 GB available), and files are saved in JPG and MP4 formats. Power is supplied by a built-in 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery that gives more than 4 hours of continuous operating time. Charging and data transfer are via a modern USB Type-C connection.
Intended use:
- Building diagnostics: Quickly locating thermal bridges and insulation defects in buildings. This lets you identify the points where heat escapes, which is the first step in reducing heating costs and preventing mould damage.
- HVAC and plumbing work: Checking the operation of underfloor heating systems, locating possible blockages or leaks and making sure the system heats up evenly.
- Maintaining electrical systems: Identifying overheated components, such as loose connections, overloaded fuses or faulty electrical devices, before they fail.
Package contents:

Yato thermal camera instructions for use:
Switch on the device with the power button. Let the device stabilise for a moment before starting measurements. Choose the temperature measuring range you want (mode 1 or 2) according to the estimated temperature of the target to ensure the best accuracy. If necessary, adjust the emissivity of the material in the menu for the most accurate measurement. Point the camera at the target; the fixed focus works optimally from a certain distance. Use the trigger to save images or videos to the internal memory. Image modes, colour palettes and other settings can be changed in the menu. Connect the device to a computer with a USB-C cable to transfer files. Charge the battery fully before long-term storage and avoid letting the battery run completely flat.
Warnings:
- Do not point the camera directly at strong energy sources such as the sun, a laser or an electric arc, as this can permanently damage the detector.
- Avoid dropping the device or exposing it to rough mechanical stress.
- The device is not specifically protected against water or dust (check the IP rating if necessary), so avoid use in rain or very dusty conditions.
- The device must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
- Store the device in a dry, clean place, taking care not to scratch the lens. Use a protective case during transport.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
- What is Super Resolution in a thermal camera?: Super Resolution is a technology that computationally improves the resolution of the thermal image. In the Yato YT-72920, the image from the native 96×96 pixel sensor is converted to 240×240 pixels, which makes the image clearer and more detailed.
- What does the 18Hz refresh rate affect?: The refresh rate (hertz) tells you how many times per second the image is updated on the display. An 18Hz rate gives a smooth image without distracting lag, which makes it easier to scan targets and follow movement compared with slower 9Hz cameras.
- Can this camera record video?: Yes, the device can save both JPG images and MP4 videos to the 8 GB internal memory. Files can be transferred to a computer with a USB-C cable.
- What does NETD ≤60 mK mean?: NETD (Noise Equivalent Temperature Difference) describes the thermal sensitivity of the camera. The smaller the value, the smaller the temperature differences the camera can detect. A sensitivity of 60 mK allows differences of as little as 0.06°C to be distinguished.
- Does the camera need focusing?: No, this model has fixed focus, which makes it quick and effortless to use. It is optimal from a certain basic distance onwards.
Recycling instructions:
- Packaging: Recycle the cardboard packaging in cardboard collection and any plastic wrappers in plastic collection.
- Product: The thermal camera contains electronics and a built-in Li-Ion battery. The product must not be disposed of with household waste. Take the device, once out of use, to a collection point for electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) or to battery recycling according to local regulations.
