Description

The Yato laser distance meter 50 m is a compact distance meter optimised for indoor measurements. The measuring range is 0.05–50 m, and the typical measuring accuracy is ±2 mm. Its extended functionality covers single and continuous measurement, min/max distance tracking and changing the units of measurement (m, ft, in, ft+in).

The device calculates area and volume directly from the measured values. Indirect measurements are handled by several modes based on the Pythagorean theorem, so distances can be determined even when there is no direct line of sight to the target. Choosing the measuring reference (3 reference points) makes it easier to set the reference when measuring rooms and furniture.

Built-in continuous tilt angle measurement (a digital electronic “spirit level”) helps you assess angles and slopes while measuring. The backlit LCD improves readability in poor lighting. The memory stores the last 99 measurements, and automatic power-off (laser ~30 s, device ~180 s) saves the batteries.

The laser is class 2 (650 nm, <1 mW, red dot). The device is used at 0–40 °C and runs on two AAA batteries (1.5 V or 1.2 V). It is designed for everyday indoor measurement, where speed and a simple user interface are key.

Intended use:

  • Measuring rooms, spaces and lines indoors: Fast measurement of distances, wall lengths and room heights. Area and volume calculation reduces the need for manual calculation and speeds up, for example, estimating material consumption.

  • Positioning and installation: Positioning furniture, rails and equipment and confirming reference distances. Continuous measurement and min/max modes make it easier to “find” the right distance.

  • Indirect measurements and slopes: Pythagoras functions let you determine heights/distances when you cannot aim directly. The tilt angle display supports the work of installers and surveyors.

  • Documentation and repeatability: The 99-measurement memory helps you transfer measurements to drawings or systems later and reduces errors.

Features:

  • Measuring range: 0.05–50 m – covers typical indoor distances.

  • Accuracy: ±2 mm – gives reliable results in most indoor measurements.

  • Resolution / smallest value: 1 mm – detailed reading at short distances.

  • Display: Backlit LCD – readability in dim light.

  • Functions: Area, volume, min/max, continuous and single measurement – reduces manual calculation.

  • Pythagoras modes: several indirect measurements – also measures without a direct line of sight.

  • Tilt measurement: Continuous tilt angle display – supports installations and slope assessment.

  • Memory: 99 measurements – makes documentation easier.

  • Measuring reference: 3 reference points – measures from the front/rear/base reference as needed.

  • Laser: Class 2, 650 nm, <1 mW, red – visible dot for aiming.

  • Power supply: 2 × AAA (1.5 V or 1.2 V) – readily available battery type.

  • Automatic power-off: Laser ~30 s, device ~180 s – improves battery life.

  • Operating temperature: 0…+40 °C; storage: −10…+50 °C – general indoor working conditions.

  • Dimensions and weight: approx. 110 × 46 × 25 mm; ~80 g – light and pocket-sized.

Yato laser distance meter 50 m: instructions for use:

  1. Switching on and aiming: Set the measuring reference (front/rear of the device). Point the laser at the target and hold the device steady.

  2. Single measurement: Press the measuring button once; the result is shown on the display and, if required, stored in the memory.

  3. Continuous measurement / min–max: Activate continuous mode; move the device and watch the minimum and maximum values to find the right measurement.

  4. Area and volume calculation: Enter the measurements one after the other (length × width × height); the device calculates the values automatically.

  5. Pythagoras modes: Select a suitable indirect measuring mode and follow the instructions on the display; take the measurements in order from a steady position.

  6. Tilt angle: Watch the angle display during installation or measurement.

  7. Calibration: Use the calibration offset (−9…+9 mm) if necessary to fine-tune the measuring reference.

  8. Power saving: The laser switches off in ~30 seconds and the device in ~180 seconds when not in use.

Warnings:

  • Laser class 2: Do not look directly into the beam or aim it at people/animals; avoid reflections from shiny surfaces.

  • Use only indoors or in situations where the dot is clearly visible; bright sunlight reduces visibility.

  • Keep the device dry and clean; avoid impacts.

  • Batteries: insert correctly; do not short-circuit or expose to fire.

  • Keep out of the reach of children.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

Can the device be used outdoors?
Yes, but in bright sunlight the dot is usually not visible; measuring works better in dim light or shade.

What do the Pythagoras functions mean?
They let you calculate height/distance indirectly from several measuring points when you cannot aim directly.

How many measurements fit in the memory?
Up to the last 99 measurements, which can be browsed later.

What does an accuracy of ±2 mm mean in practice?
In typical indoor measurements the error is about ±2 mm when the measurement is taken according to the instructions from a steady position.

Recycling instructions:

  • Batteries: Take used batteries to separate collection.

  • Packaging: Cardboard/paper → cardboard collection; plastic bags and covers → plastic collection.

  • Device at the end of its life: Take it to electrical and electronic waste collection (WEEE).
