Description
The Yato hole saw set consists of hole saws made of bi-metal HSS M3 high-speed steel. The set contains eleven cutting blades of different sizes, with diameters of 19 mm, 22 mm, 25 mm, 32 mm, 35 mm, 38 mm, 44 mm, 51 mm, 57 mm, 64 mm and 76 mm. The bi-metal construction of the products combines a flexible body material and a hard cutting edge to damp vibration.
The teeth of the cutting blades are based on a variable 4-6 TPI (teeth per inch) profile. This progressive tooth pitch minimises friction and makes chip removal more efficient, allowing a 40 mm cutting depth. The fixing mechanism uses standard threads: sizes 19-32 mm use a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) thread and sizes 32-76 mm a 5/8″ (15.9 mm) thread. The package includes suitable arbors.
The range of materials that can be drilled covers stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, wood and various plastics. The HSS M3 steel grade resists thermal expansion and keeps its cutting ability when sawing hard materials such as structural sandwich panels or resins. The tolerances suit penetrations that require precise dimensional accuracy.
In addition to the cutting blades, the product package contains two arbors (hole saw arbors) with pilot drill bits. The system is completed by a spring that helps remove the cut-out and an extension bar for deep installations. These accessories allow the components to be used directly with standard-size electric and cordless drills.
Intended use and suitability:
- Penetrations in metal and pipes: The HSS M3 material and 4-6 TPI teeth cut stainless steel and cast iron pipes while minimising friction. The variable tooth pitch prevents the blade jamming in thick-walled steel profiles and improves heat management. The accurate cut is suitable directly for industrial pipe installations.
- Working building boards and sandwich panels: The 40 mm cutting depth of the blades is enough to penetrate most insulated metal panels and multilayer structures in one go. The bi-metal construction cuts wood and facing sheet without tearing the joints of the materials. This reduces the need for finishing in installation openings.
- Electrical and HVAC installation: Sizes 19-76 mm correspond directly to the standard dimensions of electrical boxes, ventilation ducts and water pipes. The supplied extension bar allows drilling through thick intermediate floors or in tight installation gaps. The pilot drill ensures that the blade stays exactly on the marked centre point when starting.
Package contents:
- Hole saws: 11 bi-metal blades (19, 22, 25, 32, 35, 38, 44, 51, 57, 64, 76 mm).
- Arbors: 2 arbors with centre drills.
- Spring: 1 ejector spring for automatic removal of the cut-out.
- Extension bar: 1 bar for extending the working reach.
Features:
- Bi-metal construction: The flexible body and hard HSS M3 cutting edge reduce the risk of breakage under high torque.
- Variable 4-6 TPI teeth: The progressive teeth make chip removal more efficient and reduce resonance when sawing metal.
- Universal thread fitting: Standard 1/2″ and 5/8″ threads allow the blades to be used in the most common industrial arbors.
- 40 mm cutting depth: The capacity allows structures of standard thickness to be penetrated without turning the blade round.

Yato hole saw set instructions for use:
Choose a blade that suits the material and the hole size you want (19-76 mm). Screw the blade onto the arbor of the right size (1/2″ thread for small blades, 5/8″ for large ones) and check that it is tight.
Fix the arbor firmly in the jaws of the drill. Place the pilot drill bit perpendicular to the surface being cut at the marked centre point. Always use suitable cutting fluid when drilling metal to minimise friction and heat.
Start drilling at low speed until the pilot drill passes through the material and the hole saw itself touches the surface. Keep even, moderate pressure and let the 4-6 TPI teeth do the cutting without forcing. Clean cutting waste off the blade regularly during long drilling.
Warnings:
- Blind cutting: Before drilling, make sure there are no live electrical cables or pressurised pipes behind the penetration point.
- Blade kickback: The blade may jam in thick-walled metal. Always use the auxiliary handle and control the torque of the drill.
- Heat: The blade and the cut-out piece of material get very hot during sawing. Avoid contact without protective gloves.
- Flying chips: Working metal and plastic produces sharp fragments. Always wear safety glasses that meet EN 166.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What speed should be used when drilling stainless steel with this HSS M3 set?
When working stainless steel, use a low speed (about 100-300 RPM depending on the diameter) and plenty of cutting fluid to prevent overheating and blunting of the blade.
Do the arbors of the Yato YT-3381 set fit all standard drills?
Yes, the arbor shanks fit directly into all standard-size keyless and geared chucks with a capacity of over 10 mm (3/8″).
Can these blades cut toughened glass or ceramics?
No. HSS M3 bi-metal blades are designed for metals, wood and plastic. Drilling stone materials or hardened materials requires special diamond- or carbide-coated blades.
Recycling instructions:
At the end of their life, sort the HSS M3 hole saws, extension bar, spring and arbors into metal collection, because they are entirely recyclable steel. Sort the plastic storage case of the product into hard plastic collection or plastic packaging recycling according to local waste management regulations.
