Description
The BeaverCraft 4-piece carving set gives a solid basis for versatile woodworking and whittling. This basic knife set in a fabric roll is designed for a range of carving needs, from rough material removal to precise detail work. The tools are supplied in a durable fabric roll that protects the blades from external damage and also makes it easier to carry the set from one workplace to another.
All the blades in this woodcarving set are made of 1066 carbon steel, which stays sharp for a long time. The set includes two Sloyd whittling knives, a bench knife and a chip knife. Together they form a wide set that gives a good feel for the material. The 20-degree bevel angle and grind of the blades are sized specifically for working softwood, making the cutting movement smooth and controlled.
Working ergonomics have been considered by shaping the handles from ash. The BeaverCraft 4-piece carving set gives a firm, non-slip grip, which evens out strain on the hands even in long carving projects. Whether you are carving a simple wooden item or finishing finer details, this knife set has the right tools for the job.
This BeaverCraft knife set stays safely stored in the folding fabric roll supplied. The thick material stops the blades knocking against each other and reduces the risk of accidents when the tools are moved. Careful choice of materials makes this basic knife set a practical solution for many kinds of softwood carving projects.
Intended use:
This versatile carving knife set is designed for several stages and applications of woodworking:
- General shaping of wood: The Sloyd knives in the set remove larger amounts of wood quickly and rough out the basic shapes.
- Detail carving: The smaller, narrower knives are sized for cutting small grooves and precise lines in softwood.
- Mobile work: The roll-up fabric case supplied makes carrying the tools from one workshop to another easy and keeps the knives well organised.

BeaverCraft carving set 4-piece instructions for use:
The knives are supplied pre-sharpened and ready to use straight out of the pack. Use these blades only for working wood, and mainly on softwood (such as lime or pine), for which the 20-degree bevel angle of the blades is specifically designed. Avoid using the knives on hardwood or other dense materials, as hard material can dull the thin carbon steel blade prematurely or make it chip.
Keep the blades in cutting condition by stropping on leather after each use. When the knives are not in use, clean the blades and handles with a dry cloth. Protect the carbon steel parts from rust by wiping them lightly with a cloth moistened with oil before putting them back in the pack. Always make sure the blades are put into the fabric roll carefully and the right way round, so that the fabric is not cut and the blades stay firmly apart from each other.
Warnings:
Note the following safety points when using the knife set:
- Sharpness: The products are very sharp from the factory. Wear protective equipment such as cut-resistant gloves when needed while working.
- Working hardwood: Because of the narrow bevel angle and grind, the blades are not recommended for carving hardwoods.
- Corrosion: The tools are made of carbon steel, which is prone to rust in a damp environment. Store and use the tools only in dry conditions.
- Safe storage: Always keep the blades out of the reach of small children, ideally rolled up and closed in their own fabric case.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
- Can these knives be used to carve hardwood?: It is not recommended. The blades have a thin 20-degree grind sized for softwood.
- Do the blades need separate sharpening before first use?: No. The blades come pre-sharpened in the pack.
- How do I keep the tools sharp?: Regular maintenance by stropping is the most effective way to keep carbon steel blades in condition.
- Why does carbon steel need maintenance?: Carbon steel oxidises and may rust when exposed to moisture, which is why light oiling after use is needed.
Recycling instructions:
When the tools reach the end of their life, sort the materials separately. Separate the metal carbon steel blades from the handles and take them to metal collection. The ash handles can go to energy waste or to wood waste according to local regulations. The fabric roll used for storage is disposed of with textile waste or combustible waste, depending on the sorting instructions.
