Description
Blue Dolphin render tape Rough (Render Tape) is a white protective tape designed especially for outdoor use and demanding surfaces, meeting the strictest requirements of professional builders and facade contractors. The key property of the tape is its ability to adhere reliably to rough, porous and dusty materials, such as brick, concrete, stone and render, where ordinary masking tapes do not stay put. The white colour makes the tape look neat and is an excellent choice, for example, for protecting white PVC windows and doors.
This tape has 30-day UV resistance, which is a critical feature in long facade projects. It withstands direct sunlight, wind and rain without becoming brittle or the adhesive “baking on” to the surface, as long as it is removed within the recommended time. The reinforced backing is both flexible and resistant to mechanical wear, yet it is still easy to tear by hand, which speeds up protection work without separate cutters.
The adhesive technology is based on synthetic rubber (Hot Melt), which is optimised to give very strong initial adhesion (High Tack). This ensures that protective plastics and papers stay in place even in strong wind. The tape forms a barrier impermeable to moisture, preventing water and mortar from reaching the protected surfaces. It is the first choice when you want to protect window frames, doors and other structures during rendering, slurry coating or exterior painting.
Intended use:
- Facade rendering and slurry coating: Protecting windows, doors and other building components from splashes. Render tape is an essential aid in facade work. It holds even heavy protective plastics in place on a rough brick or concrete wall. The white colour suits light facades and frames well and leaves no colour residue.
- Protecting stone and brick surfaces: Masking on porous materials. Rough surfaces such as brick and natural stone are challenging to tape. The conformable adhesive of this tape fills the micropores of the surface, creating a tight masking line, for example when painting a plinth or at junctions between different materials.
- Exterior painting and renovation: Long-term protection in sunshine. In exterior painting, protection often has to stay in place for days or weeks. The 30-day UV resistance guarantees that the tape comes off in one strip and does not crumble, even if the project drags on because of the weather.

Blue Dolphin render tape Rough instructions for use:
For the best adhesion, make sure the surface is dry and as clean as possible of loose dust or dirt, even though the tape is designed for rough surfaces. The tape will not adhere reliably to a wet or icy surface.
Unroll the tape and press it firmly onto the surface. On rough surfaces (such as brick or roughcast render) it is particularly important to rub the tape down after application so that the adhesive can penetrate the unevenness of the surface and form tight contact. If you are fixing protective plastic, place the plastic at the edge of the adhesive surface of the tape and secure the joint with a second layer of tape if necessary.
Remove the tape no later than 30 days after application. Remove the tape by pulling it calmly off the surface at an angle of about 45 degrees. Do not rip it off, so that the substrate (e.g. old render) is not damaged. If the tape has been on for a long time in cold weather, warming it carefully can make removal easier.
Warnings:
- Not for delicate surfaces: The adhesive of the tape is very strong. It is not recommended for use on delicate surfaces, such as varnished wood, glass (long term), wallpaper or poorly adhering paint, as it can damage the surface when removed.
- Test bond: As stone and render surfaces vary, we always recommend doing a small test bond in an inconspicuous spot before large-scale use to make sure of suitability and removability.
- UV limit: Although the product withstands UV radiation, exceeding 30 days can cause the adhesive to harden and removal problems.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Does Blue Dolphin render tape adhere to wet concrete?
No, the tape needs a dry surface to adhere. Although the tape withstands rain and moisture after application, the surface must be dry at the moment of fixing so that the adhesive activates properly.
Why choose white render tape instead of orange?
The tapes are equivalent in their technical properties, but the white colour is often a more aesthetic choice. It blends in better with white window frames and doors, and it does not reflect coloured light onto the work area.
Can the tape be used in winter?
The tape can be used in cool weather, but the application temperature should be above +5°C. In too cold conditions the adhesive is not flexible enough to adhere to the contours of a rough surface. After application, the tape withstands frost well.
Recycling instructions:
Used tape is dirty and contains adhesives, so it is sorted as mixed waste. The cardboard core of the tape is clean cardboard and should be recycled in cardboard collection.
