Description
Flo trimmer line is a high-quality trimmer line with a round cross-section, designed for accurate cutting of lawns, long grass and light surface vegetation. The round shape gives an optimal balance between cutting power, mechanical durability and low air resistance in use. This basic profile effectively reduces the load on the motor and extends the running time of battery-powered tools on a single charge.
The line has a diameter of 1.6 mm and a total length of 10 metres, which makes it compatible with most small and medium-sized electric and cordless grass trimmers. The line is made of tough, flexible nylon polymer (polyamide) with high tensile strength and good wear resistance in mechanical contact with fixed obstacles. It withstands high rotational speeds without melting or breaking prematurely at the outlet of the trimmer head.
The round cutting line gives an even mass distribution along its length, which minimises imbalance caused by centrifugal force and reduces vibration and shaking of the cutting head. This protects the drive shaft and bearings of the trimmer from extra wear and ensures smooth rotation. The bright colour of the line makes it easier to see the rotating cutting area and control the edge while working.
Flo trimmer line is supplied on a compact, clearly labelled backing card that protects the line from dirt and mechanical damage in storage. The product is a reliable component for regular maintenance of green areas and gardens. Its technical material properties ensure a clean cut and reduce fraying and yellowing of grass tips after cutting.
Intended use and suitability:
The product is developed as a replacement cutting component for low-power grass trimmers and finishing trimmers for tidying the edges of lawns.
- Finishing lawn edges: The line is used for cutting lawn and soft grass in places a lawn mower cannot reach, such as next to plantings, paving and fences. The round profile glides evenly against hard surfaces, minimising sudden breakage of the line.
- Clearing light surface vegetation: Excellent for removing young dandelions, plantain and other soft-stemmed weeds from garden paths and paving joints without the need for heavier clearing tools.
Package contents:
- 1 pc Flo 89400 round trimmer line 1.6 mm x 10 m (coiled on a backing card)
Features:
- Round profile: Minimises air resistance and reduces the heat load on the trimmer motor and the noise level compared with angular line models.
- High-quality nylon material: Gives good elasticity and tensile strength, which prevents the line from breaking prematurely and extends its service life.
- Smooth rotation: The homogeneous structure reduces vibration of the cutting head, which spares the mechanics of the tool and improves comfort in use.
Technical specifications:
- Diameter: 1.6 mm
- Length: 10 m
- Profile shape: Round
- Material: Nylon (polyamide)
- Colour: Yellow / transparent (varies by batch)
Flo 89400 instructions for use:
Switch off the trimmer motor and remove the battery or power cord before changing the line. Open the cover of the trimmer head according to the manufacturer’s instructions and remove any old stub of line from the spool. Cut the length of new line you need from the coil (usually about 2–4 metres depending on the capacity of the trimmer head) with clean cutters.
Thread the end of the line into the fixing hole on the spool and wind the line tightly and evenly in the direction of rotation shown by the arrow, without letting the turns cross. Thread the ends of the line through the metal outlet eyelets of the cutting head and close the cover carefully, making sure the locking tabs click into place. Before starting, make sure the ends of the line are roughly the same length and within reach of the cutting blade on the guard.
Warnings:
- Always wear approved safety glasses, long trousers and safety footwear when using the trimmer, as the line can throw stones and other loose objects from the ground at high speed.
- Never fit line with a larger diameter than recommended (over 1.6 mm if the tool is limited to this size), as it overloads and can damage the electric motor of the tool.
- Do not store the line in direct sunlight or in a very dry, hot place, as nylon can lose moisture and become brittle (brittle line can be soaked in water for 24 hours to restore its flexibility).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is this 1.6 mm line suitable for petrol brush cutters?
It is not recommended. Because of its diameter and material thickness, this line is optimised for low-power electric and cordless finishing trimmers. Heavier petrol machines usually need thicker (2.4–4.0 mm) line for durability.
Why does the trimmer line keep breaking right at the cutting head?
This is usually because the line is run too close against a hard obstacle (such as a concrete edging or a plinth), and the frictional heat melts or breaks the line at the outlet eyelet. Always cut with the tip of the line, not the base.
Recycling instructions:
Used pieces of trimmer line and worn-out line are sorted as mixed waste (or energy waste according to local instructions), as nylon polymer is not suitable for ordinary plastic packaging collection. The backing card of the product is recycled in cardboard collection and any plastic blister or film in plastic packaging collection.
