Cordless trimmers and brush cutters are 18V battery-powered machines for cutting lawn edges, along fences and in tight spots, and for clearing tall grass and scrub. The group includes line trimmers, a 2-in-1 blade and line trimmer, a 2x18V brush cutter, and replacement line and blades. A trimmer finishes the job after the lawn mower, while a brush cutter suits verges, ditch banks and cottage plots. All machines use the Yato 18V battery.

Selection criteria

  • Cutting width: the line trimmers have a cutting width of 250–300 mm. A narrow width suits precise edge work, a wide one larger areas.
  • Cutting head: line cuts grass and tall grass, while blades stand up better to rough growth. A brush cutter clears dense growth and scrub.
  • Shaft length: an adjustable shaft, for example 102–123 cm or 108–137 cm, adjusts to the user's height. On some models the cutting head turns for cutting lawn edges.
  • Motor: a brushless (BL) motor gives more run time per charge. The brush cutter runs on two 18V batteries (2x18V).
  • Body only or set: a body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger, while a set includes a 2 Ah battery and a charger.

Frequently asked questions about cordless trimmers and brush cutters

What is the difference between a trimmer and a brush cutter?
A trimmer cuts grass and tall grass with line or blades. A brush cutter is a more powerful machine that also clears dense growth and scrub.

Can a trimmer cut lawn edges?
Yes. When the cutting head is turned to the vertical position, the lawn edge is cut straight, for example along a path or a flower bed.
