Kapro try square Ledge-it

Try square made of stainless steel and cast aluminium with a swing-out Ledge‑It support, for precise marking, drawing angles and one-handed work.

Unit: pcs Brand:

Description

The Kapro Ledge‑It try square is a versatile marking and measuring tool for woodwork, board work and interior construction. Its stainless steel blade has permanent laser-engraved scales in both metric and imperial units, which supports work with different drawing conventions. Angle markings placed in holes in the blade let you measure 90° and also draw the most common bevel and mitre angles quickly without separate aids.

The feature the square is named after is the retractable Ledge‑It support integrated into the body. This metal edge step swings out and rests on the edge of the workpiece, so the square stays in place without being clamped by hand. This frees your other hand for marking or fixing and reduces the risk of slipping, especially on long workpieces and vertical surfaces.

The cast aluminium handle forms a double-sided 3D base that makes it easier to draw bevels and guided lines from either side of the workpiece. The body has three milled reference surfaces for precise 90° contact, a hanging hole and a marking groove that gives you consistent, straight lines even when the blade is used as a guide.

The blade has a hole at every centimetre, which allows smooth, repeatable marking, for parallel lines for example. The angle holes cover the common bevel angles used on site and in workshops: 10°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 50° and 60°. This combination makes the tool quick and intuitive to use, for example when marking mitres, copying angles from pieces and marking board cuts.

Applications range from joinery (frames, joints, trim work) to plasterboard installation and other interior lining. The durable combination of materials (stainless steel and cast aluminium) makes the tool suitable for site conditions as well as for more precise work on the bench. The product is a “parent” model: it has several size/length variations; this description focuses on the construction and features, not on individual dimensions.

Intended use:

  • Joinery and furniture making. Thanks to the Ledge‑It support, you can anchor the square on the edge of the workpiece and make repeatable, accurate 90° line markings with one hand. The angle points in the holes help you transfer mitres (e.g. 45°) and special angles (22.5°, 30°) quickly straight onto the workpiece without an angle gauge. This speeds up the preparation of frames and furniture joints and reduces errors.
  • Board and interior construction work (plasterboard, plywood, MDF). The retractable edge support stops the tool from slipping when marking large boards, especially in a vertical position. The centimetre holes in the blade let you mark parallel cutting lines quickly: just move the pencil from one hole to the next and draw the line along the blade. The angle holes speed up mitres and bevels for electrical and opening markings.
  • Checking measurements during construction and installation. Three milled reference surfaces ensure precise contact with the surface being measured, so you can check 90° angles from door frames to box structures. The hanging hole makes it easier to store the tool on site and reduces inaccuracy caused by knocks, as the tool is not left lying around loose.
  • Making bevels, templates and repeat measurements. The marking groove in the body works as a guide when transferring lines, in trim work for example. The angle holes also let you copy an existing angle and transfer it to a new piece, which is useful in renovations where walls are not perfectly straight.
  • Transferring patterns and sketching for technical drawing. Permanent engravings in metric and imperial divisions support reading drawings in international projects. The tool is also suitable for marking templates and measuring fields, especially when you want to make sure lines are parallel and angles repeatable.

Features:

  • Ledge‑It retractable edge support: Allows hands-free work; the square rests on the edge of the workpiece without being held, giving faster, more accurate marking and fewer slips.
  • Stainless steel blade, permanent engravings: Engraved metric and imperial scales; the wear-resistant marking guarantees readability in site conditions.
  • Angle holes 10°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 50° and 60°: The most common bevel and mitre angles straight from the blade; fast angle transfer without a separate protractor.
  • A hole at every centimetre (and, depending on the model, fine imperial divisions): Smooth marking of parallel lines and repeating of patterns, even over long distances.
  • Cast aluminium, double-sided 30° handle base: A stable grip and support for drawing bevels on both sides of the workpiece; a light but durable construction.
  • 3 milled reference surfaces: Precise contact with the surface being measured, reducing measuring errors on the bench and on site.
  • Marking groove in the body: Fast drawing of standard distances and repeat lines without a separate guide strip.
  • Hanging hole: Easy storage and quick access at the workstation.
  • Certified 90°: The quality-controlled angle ensures precise squareness in check measurements.

Kapro Ledge‑It try square: instructions for use:

  1. Preparation: Make sure the blade and milled surfaces are clean. Release the retractable Ledge‑It support by pressing/turning it out of the body.
  2. Setting the angle: Place the milled reference surface of the handle against the edge of the workpiece. If you are working on a vertical surface or a long edge, let the Ledge‑It support rest on top of the edge, anchoring the tool in place.
  3. Marking 90°: Draw a line along the edge of the blade. To make repeatable lines, use the marking groove in the body.
  4. Bevel and mitre angles: Choose the angle you want from the angle holes in the blade (10°–60°). Put the pencil in the hole and make a mark; draw a line from the notch at the end of the blade to the marked point.
  5. Parallel lines: Move the pencil along the centimetre holes in the blade and draw lines following the edge of the blade. This is useful for repeat measurements in board cuts and trim work, for example.
  6. Storage and maintenance: Wipe the blade and handle after use. Remove site dirt and moisture with a soft cloth; if needed, apply a light oil to the blade surface to prevent corrosion. Push the Ledge‑It support back into the body for transport.

Warnings:

  • Not a cutting tool: The blade is not intended for cutting. Avoid using force, which can twist the blade or round off the reference surfaces.
  • Risk of pinched fingers: When using the retractable support, keep your fingers out of the path of the mechanism.
  • Clean surfaces: Sand and chips between the blade and the workpiece can cause measuring errors and scratch surfaces.
  • Protective equipment: Wear suitable personal protective equipment (safety glasses, gloves) in construction and woodworking.
  • Magnetisation and electricity: The product has no magnets; do not try to magnetise it, so that metal chips sticking to the surfaces do not reduce the measuring accuracy.
  • Temperature changes: Extreme temperatures can affect measurements; avoid prolonged exposure to direct sun or frost.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ):

What is the benefit of the Ledge‑It support?
It works as a “third hand”: the support rests on the edge of the workpiece and holds the square in place, freeing your other hand for marking or fixing. This improves repeatability and reduces errors, especially on long and vertical workpieces.

Which angles can I mark without a separate protractor?
With the angle holes in the blade, you can mark the most common bevel angles: 10°, 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 45°, 50° and 60°. Mark a point through the hole and join it to the notch or edge at the end of the blade with a line.

Is the square calibrated to 90°?
Yes, the angle is verified at the factory. Before precision work, it is still advisable to do a quick alignment test (draw a line, turn the tool over and check that the lines coincide).

Are there length/size options?
Yes. This is a variable product with several length options. Choose a suitable length from the product variations to suit your project.

Can I draw parallel lines without a separate batten?
Yes. The centimetre holes in the blade and the marking groove in the body allow parallel lines quickly and repeatably.

Recycling instructions:

  • Packaging: Sort cardboard and paper hanging cards into cardboard collection. Plastic bags and covers go to plastic collection according to local instructions.
  • Product: The tool contains cast aluminium and stainless steel. When the product is taken out of use, take it to metal recycling. If possible, separate the parts (blade/handle) to make sorting the materials easier.
  • Environment: Avoid throwing the tool into mixed waste; recycling metals saves natural resources and energy.
