Description
Narex cutting chisel with hand guard is a versatile hand tool designed especially for demolition and shaping work that calls for precision and safety in use. The body of the tool is forged from alloyed Cr-Mo-V tool steel (chrome molybdenum vanadium), which gives the blade excellent toughness and stops it from breaking under impact. The edge is hardened to stay sharp even in hard materials such as concrete and metal.
The most significant feature of the product is its integrated wide hand guard. This guard prevents hand injuries from misdirected hammer blows and also gives a secure grip on the tool. The chisel is designed to be light in balance, which makes it an excellent choice for overhead work, reducing strain on the user’s arms during long periods of work. The 26 x 235 mm size gives good reach and a wide enough working area.
This flat-ended chisel works efficiently both for removing building materials and for cutting metal parts such as screws and bolts. Its design is optimised to transfer impact energy straight to the cutting tip without wasted energy, which makes work more efficient even in tight spaces.
Intended use:
- Working masonry and concrete: Suitable for removing render, splitting bricks, making grooves in concrete and general demolition work where targeted force is needed.
- Cutting metal: The hardened blade lets you knock off or cut the heads of screws, bolts and rivets (cold chisel function).
- Overhead work: The light construction and protective grip make working on ceilings and high wall structures safer and less tiring.

Narex cutting chisel instructions for use:
Hold the grip/guard of the chisel firmly. Place the tip of the chisel at the point to be worked at the angle you want. Use a hammer or club hammer of a suitable size and strike the head of the chisel (the striking face). Keep your eyes on the work point, not on the striking end. When cutting metal, lubricate the blade with cutting oil if needed to reduce friction. If the blade goes blunt, it can be sharpened with a grinding stone or whetstone; avoid overheating the blade while sharpening to keep its hardening.
Warnings:
Always wear safety glasses, as chips come off at high speed when chiselling. Make sure there are no electrical cables or pipes under the surface being worked. Check the chisel regularly; if the striking end starts to “mushroom” (the edges turn over), grind the edges off to stop metal chips coming off under the force of the blow.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Question: Can the hand guard be removed?
Answer: The hand guard is fitted tightly to ensure safety, and removing it during normal use is not recommended. It is an essential part of the safety features of the tool. It can be removed if necessary.
Question: Does this chisel stand up to stainless steel?
Answer: Cr-Mo-V steel is very hard, but cutting hardened or stainless steel bolts can blunt the blade faster than working ordinary structural steel.
Recycling instructions:
At the end of its life, the product can be taken apart. The metal chisel part goes to metal recycling. Sort the plastic/rubber hand guard into either plastic collection or energy waste, depending on the material.
