- Sallittu käyttö: Puun vuolu ja materiaalin poisto käsin työntämällä, erityisesti sinkkaliitosten valmistuksessa ja viimeistelyssä. Kevyt naputtelu puu- tai kuminuijalla on sallittua.
- Ennakoitavissa oleva väärinkäyttö: Taltan lyöminen voimakkaasti metallivasaralla. Käyttö vääntötyökaluna. Muiden materiaalien kuin puun työstäminen.
Lasten ja lemmikkien varoitukset
Tuote on erittäin terävä.
Turvallisen käytön varmistamiseksi on noudatettava seuraavia ohjeita:

Description
The dovetail chisel (Dovetail Chisel) in the Narex Wood Line Plus range is designed especially for demanding joinery that calls for precision when making dovetail joints. This specialist chisel solves the problems of traditional chisels when working in tight spaces. Its unique design allows a neat, precise result even in difficult joints.
The key feature of the chisel is the triangular cross-section of its blade. This profile is designed so that the sides of the blade bevel inwards, which lets the blade fit easily into the tight corners and angles of dovetail joints without damaging the adjacent wood. The back of the blade is also shaped to be slightly concave. This design minimises friction during work, making material removal smoother and more precise, especially when working deeper joints.
The materials of the tool are chosen with professional use in mind. The blade is made of high-quality chrome manganese steel (Cr-Mn) and is hardened to 59 HRC hardness. This guarantees excellent edge retention and durability. The handle is made of dark-stained beech finished with wax, which gives a comfortable, secure grip for precise work.
Intended use:
The Narex dovetail chisel is a specialist tool intended primarily for fine joinery.
- Making dovetail joints: The chisel is optimised for precise working of the spaces between the “tails” and “pins” of dovetail joints. Its shape lets you finish sharp inside corners, which an ordinary straight-edged chisel cannot do.
- Cleaning and fitting joints: The tool is excellent for removing excess material from the bottom and sides of a joint (paring), ensuring a tight, neat fit between the parts. The concave back makes it easier to pare thin shavings.
Package contents:
- 1 pcs Narex dovetail chisel (Dovetail)
Features:
- Triangular blade profile: The sides of the blade are bevelled, which gives access to even the tightest corners of dovetail joints without damaging the edges of the joint.
- Concave back: The slight concavity of the back of the blade reduces friction against the surface being worked, improving control and precision.
- Cr-Mn steel: High-quality alloy steel guarantees good wear resistance and a long service life.
- Hardness 59 HRC: The optimal hardness ensures that the blade stays sharp for a long time even in demanding use.
- Beech handle: The dark-stained, waxed beech handle is ergonomic and gives a firm grip.
Technical specifications:
- Product type: Dovetail chisel (Dovetail Chisel)
- Range: Wood Line Plus
- Blade material: Cr-Mn steel (chrome manganese)
- Blade hardness: 59 HRc
- Handle material: Beech
- Handle finish: Dark stain, waxed
Instructions for use:
This dovetail chisel is a precision tool designed primarily for paring and material removal by hand. Avoid using heavy hammers or mallets. If force is needed, use a light joiner’s mallet and tap carefully.
Always keep the chisel very sharp for the best result. When sharpening, take into account the special geometry of the blade. The concave back makes it easier to flatten the back of the blade (lapping), which is critical for a precise cutting edge.
Warnings:
- Sharpness: The tool is very sharp. Handle with care and wear suitable protective equipment.
- Method of use: Do not use the chisel as a prying tool. The thin construction of the blade is designed for cutting, not prying.
- Clamping the workpiece: Always make sure the workpiece is supported or firmly clamped.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
How does this differ from an ordinary wood chisel?
The most significant difference is the cross-section of the blade. The edges of an ordinary chisel are straight or only slightly bevelled, whereas the edges of a dovetail chisel are strongly bevelled into a triangular shape. This gives access to sharp inside corners that an ordinary chisel cannot fit into.
Can this chisel be struck with a hammer?
The chisel is designed primarily for precise handwork and finishing. Heavy striking with a metal hammer should be avoided. Using a light joiner’s mallet is allowed with care.
Why is the back of the chisel concave?
The concave back reduces friction when the chisel is pushed against the wood while finishing flat surfaces. It also speeds up sharpening and flattening the back of the chisel, as there is less area to grind.
Recycling instructions:
At the end of the product’s life, the metal blade can be recycled through metal collection and the wooden handle can be disposed of as energy waste or wood waste in line with local regulations.
