Description
The Yato cordless circular saw 18V 165 mm is a cordless circular saw for straight cuts in wood and wood-based boards. The saw is supplied as a set with an 18 V 2.0 Ah lithium-ion battery, a charger and a 165 mm saw blade. The blade diameter is 165 mm and the cutting depth is 54 mm at a right angle and 40 mm at a 45-degree angle. The blade runs at 3800 min⁻¹.
The bevel angle is infinitely adjustable 0–45° on the scale at the front of the saw, and the cutting depth on the scale guide at the rear; both are locked with a screw without separate tools. The base plate is rigid and flat, and the handle is shaped so that the saw can also be guided with one hand.
The movable lower guard exposes the blade only during cutting and closes by spring force when the blade is lifted out of the material. Sawdust is directed to the dust extraction port, to which an external vacuum cleaner can be connected. The delivery includes a guide with a scale for straight and repeated cuts.
The saw belongs to the Yato 18 V battery platform: the same battery powers all tools in the range. The battery in the set is 2 Ah, and the charger charges it in about one hour. Compatible batteries are 2 Ah YT-828461, 3 Ah YT-828462, 4 Ah YT-828463 and 6 Ah YT-828464. Tools on the same battery platform include the Yato cordless planer 18V 82 mm, body only and the Yato cordless die grinder 18V, body only. The same saw is also available as a body-only version, the Yato cordless circular saw 18V 165 mm, body only.
Intended use and suitability:
The circular saw cuts straight lines in wood and wood-based boards. The cutting depth is set to suit the thickness of the material, and the angle adjustment produces bevel cuts.
- Construction timber: 40 x 60 mm battens, 32 mm planks and LVL in a single through cut.
- Board work: 25 mm OSB, plywood, chipboard and MDF; also floor panels and three-layer boards.
- Bevel cutting: 0–45° angle adjustment for mitre and bevel joints; at 45 degrees the cutting depth is 40 mm.
- Limitations: straight cutting lines only. Curves such as circles cannot be cut, and the saw is not used on metal or stone materials.

Yato cordless circular saw 18V 165 mm instructions for use:
Preparation: Remove the battery before changing the blade and making adjustments. Choose a 165 mm blade suitable for the material, with a 16 mm bore and a maximum permitted speed at least equal to the speed of the saw. Set the cutting depth on the rear scale guide so that the blade extends below the material by no more than the height of one tooth, and lock the screw. Set the angle on the front scale and tighten the locking screw. Connect a vacuum cleaner to the dust extraction port.
Charging the battery: Fully charge the battery before first use with the charger in the set, in a dry indoor space. Charging a 2 Ah battery takes about one hour. Remove the battery from the saw for charging and storage.
Working: Secure the workpiece with clamps or in a vice and support large boards on both sides close to the cutting line. Hold the saw by the handle and the auxiliary handle. Start by pressing the lock button and then the switch, let the blade reach full speed and only then guide the saw into the material. Move the saw steadily along the cutting line with the base against the material. Do not touch the movable lower guard during cutting.
Changing the blade: Lock the blade rotation, open the fixing screw, remove the fixing flange and the blade. Clean sawdust from the spindle, the flanges and the inside of the guards. Fit the flange and the new blade, fit the outer flange and tighten the screw with the blade rotation locked. The guards are not removed when changing the blade.
Maintenance: Switch off the saw and remove the battery after work. Check that the movable guard moves freely and closes by itself. Clean the body and ventilation openings with an air stream (no more than 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without solvents.
Warnings:
- Wear ear defenders, eye protection, a dust mask and work gloves.
- Remove the battery before changing the blade, making adjustments and servicing.
- Charge the battery only with the charger supplied with the set or another charger intended for Yato 18 V lithium-ion batteries.
- Keep your hands away from the cutting area and the blade, and do not reach under the workpiece.
- Secure the workpiece; never hold the material being cut in your hand or against your leg.
- Risk of kickback: if the blade jams, release the switch and hold the saw still until the blade has stopped. Do not pull the saw backwards while the blade is moving.
- Do not lock the movable lower guard open, and do not use the saw if the guard does not close by itself.
- Do not use bent, cracked or blunt blades, high-speed steel blades or grinding discs.
- Do not cut along a curved line. Cuts must only be made in a straight line.
- Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use outdoors in the rain (IPX0).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Are the battery and charger included? Yes. The Yato cordless circular saw 18V 165 mm is supplied as a set with an 18 V 2.0 Ah lithium-ion battery, a charger, a 165 mm blade, a scale guide and a fixing key.
How long does it take to charge the battery? Charging the 2 Ah battery in the set takes about one hour.
How thick a material does the saw cut through? The cutting depth is 54 mm at a right angle and 40 mm at a 45-degree angle.
Which batteries fit the saw? In addition to the 2 Ah battery in the set, Yato 18 V lithium-ion batteries 2 Ah YT-828461, 3 Ah YT-828462, 4 Ah YT-828463 and 6 Ah YT-828464.

Recycling instructions:
A circular saw at the end of its service life is waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): take it to a collection point for waste electrical equipment, not to mixed waste. Remove the battery before disposal and take it separately to a battery collection point. The charger is also waste electrical equipment. Take a worn saw blade to metal recycling with the teeth protected, the cardboard packaging to cardboard recycling and the plastic parts to plastic recycling.
