Description
Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm (YT-82927) is a compact polisher with a brushless motor for repairing, polishing and finishing small painted, metal, wooden and plastic surfaces. The polisher runs on Yato 18V Li-Ion system batteries. It is supplied as a body only, without a battery or charger.
The polisher has three interchangeable heads: a rotary head for precise spot work and eccentric heads with a 3 mm and a 12 mm orbit. The 3 mm head produces an even, soft movement for finishing, and the 12 mm head removes larger defects faster. The head is changed without tools by pressing the spindle cover and pulling the head out.
The speed is selected on the control panel from four levels: 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5800 min⁻¹. The selected level is kept in memory after switching off, except the highest level 4, which returns to level 3 for safety reasons. Soft start reduces the jolt at start-up, and the power switch can be locked for continuous use.
The eccentric heads take a 75 mm hook-and-loop backing plate, and the rotary head a 30 mm hook-and-loop backing plate or a 30 mm smooth backing plate for self-adhesive sanding discs. The maximum pad diameter is 80 mm and the head thread is M10. Without the battery, the polisher weighs 0.75 kg, so it is easy to guide in tight spots.
The device belongs to protection class III, and its IP rating is IP20. The declared sound pressure level is 68 ± 3 dB(A) and the vibration value 6.53 ± 1.5 m/s². The manufacturer’s declaration of conformity covers the standards EN 62841-1, EN IEC 62841-2-3 and EN 62841-2-4 and the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
Intended use and suitability: Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm
The Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm is designed for polishing and finishing small and hard-to-reach surfaces where a 125–150 mm polisher does not fit.
- Car paintwork repair and detailing: polishing door handles, air intakes, mirrors, small parts and recesses in the bodywork. For large surfaces such as the bonnet and doors, use the Yato cordless polisher 18V 125 mm, body only.
- Local paint defects: the rotary head and the 30 mm backing plate are used to treat individual scratches and spots, and the 3 mm eccentric head finishes the area evenly.
- Metal, wood and plastic surfaces: polishing small metal parts and finishing varnished wooden surfaces and plastic parts with polishing pads or self-adhesive sanding discs.
- Yato 18V system: the polisher uses the same batteries as other Yato 18V tools, for example the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery, which is charged with the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A.

Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm user manual:
Read the entire user manual before use. Always remove the battery before changing the head, backing plate or pad.
- Fitting the backing plate: screw the selected backing plate onto the head by hand until you feel resistance, and attach the pad to the backing plate.
- Fitting the head: push the head stud straight into the spindle hole and press it all the way in. Remove the head by pressing the spindle cover (open lock symbol) and pulling the head out.
- Fitting the battery: slide a charged Yato 18V battery into the connector so that the latches lock.
- Selecting the speed: select speed level 1–4 with the control panel button before starting.
- Starting: make sure the pad is not touching the surface. Push the switch forward and press its front part until it locks. Wait for the polisher to reach the set speed.
- Working: lower the backing plate gently onto the surface and hold the front handle with your other hand. Move the polisher evenly with the backing plate parallel to the surface, do not press too hard and do not stay in the same spot. Check the surface temperature regularly.
- Stopping: press the rear part of the switch to release the lock. Put the polisher down only when the pad has stopped.
- Maintenance: remove the battery and clean the body and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth. Store in a dry place out of the reach of children.
Start with the 3 mm eccentric head and a mild pad and polish combination, and test the effect on a small, inconspicuous area. The 12 mm head and the rotary head require more control because the surface heats up faster with them.
Warnings:
- Personal protective equipment: wear safety glasses, a respirator and protective gloves; hearing protection if necessary.
- Battery out: remove the battery before changing accessories, making adjustments and maintenance.
- Accessory speed: the maximum permitted speed of the pad and backing plate must be at least 5800 min⁻¹, and the outer diameter no more than 80 mm.
- For sanding and polishing only: the polisher must not be used as an angle grinder, wire brush or cut-off machine.
- Loose parts: do not allow loose parts or tie strings of the polishing pad to spin freely.
- Kickback: hold the polisher firmly with both hands and take special care at corners and sharp edges where the pad can jam.
- No liquid cooling: do not use accessories that require water or coolant (risk of electric shock). IP rating IP20: not for use in rain or wet rooms.
- Fire hazard: do not use the polisher near flammable materials.
- Approved batteries and chargers only: YT-828461–YT-828465 and chargers YT-828498–YT-828504.
- Vibration: declared vibration value 6.53 m/s²; limit continuous operating time and take breaks.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What is the Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm best suited for?
Polishing small and hard-to-reach surfaces and repairing paint defects: door handles, air intakes, mirrors, small parts and recesses in the bodywork. For large surfaces, a 125 mm polisher is suitable.
What is the difference between the 3 mm and 12 mm eccentric heads?
The 3 mm head moves softly and suits finishing and beginners. The 12 mm head removes larger defects faster, but the surface temperature must be monitored more closely.
Are a battery and charger included?
No. The polisher is supplied as a body only and runs on Yato 18V Li-Ion batteries YT-828461–YT-828465.
Why does speed level 4 change to level 3 after switching off?
For safety reasons, the highest speed of 5800 min⁻¹ returns to level 3 (4000 min⁻¹) so that the polisher does not start at the highest speed the next time it is switched on.
What kind of pads can be used with the polisher?
Hook-and-loop polishing pads for the Ø 75 mm and Ø 30 mm backing plates, and self-adhesive sanding discs for the 30 mm smooth backing plate. Pad diameter no more than 80 mm, permitted speed at least 5800 min⁻¹.
Can the polisher be used for wet polishing?
No. Accessories that require liquid cooling must not be used, and the IP rating is IP20.
Recycling instructions:
The Yato cordless polisher 18V 80 mm is electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) that must not be disposed of with mixed waste. At the end of its life, take the polisher to a WEEE collection point.
- Batteries: Recycle Li-Ion batteries separately at a battery collection point; tape the terminals before returning them.
- Pads and backing plates: dispose of worn polishing and sanding pads with mixed waste unless local waste management instructs otherwise.
- Packaging: cardboard and paper to cardboard recycling, plastic parts to plastic recycling.
