Description
Yato cordless angle impact wrench 270 Nm , body only, is an 18-volt brushless angle impact wrench whose angle head has a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) square drive. The maximum torque is 270 Nm, and three power and speed levels give torques of 90 / 160 / 270 Nm, speeds of 0–1350 / 0–2300 / 0–3000 min⁻¹ and impact rates of 0–1350 / 0–2700 / 0–3600 min⁻¹. The body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger, and it uses Yato 18V system Li-Ion slide-on batteries.
The angle head is at a right angle to the longitudinal axis of the tool, so the socket fits onto the nut from the side. The design suits places where a straight impact wrench does not fit in front of the fastener, such as tight gaps in engine bays, chassis, machine frames and pipework. The impact mechanism converts the rotation of the motor into short tangential impacts, so the reaction torque transmitted to the user’s hand stays low.
The control panel selects four operating modes: three power and speed levels and a tightening mode. In tightening mode, automatic stop limits the speed and stops the tool at the target torque in clockwise rotation, and in anticlockwise rotation the tool loosens the fastener at full speed and slows down automatically when the fastener comes loose. The trigger has stepless electronic speed control and the body has a direction switch.
The brushless motor transfers torque efficiently and reduces mechanical wear. The weight of the tool without the battery is 1.5 kg, and the operating temperature range is -10…+40 °C. The sound pressure level is 102.7 dB(A), the sound power level 110.7 dB(A) and vibration 14.8 m/s², so hearing protection and work breaks are needed. Compatible batteries are YT-828461–YT-828465.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless angle impact wrench 270 Nm is designed for loosening and tightening bolts and nuts with 1/2″ impact sockets in tight spots in vehicle, machine and installation work. When more torque is needed, straight alternatives in the same battery system are the Yato cordless impact wrench 18V 850Nm, body only and Yato cordless impact wrench 18V 2400Nm, body only. For charging the batteries, you can use, for example, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A.
- Vehicle repair: Fasteners in the engine bay, suspension and exhaust system that a straight wrench cannot reach; the angle head fits between components.
- Machine and equipment maintenance: Bolts in frames, guards and mounting lugs with little free space in front of them.
- Installation and service work: Quick loosening and pre-tightening of nuts in brackets, flanges and steel structures; final tightening is checked with a torque wrench.
- Smaller fasteners: Level 1 (90 Nm) and the automatic stop of the tightening mode reduce the risk of overtightening small fasteners.
Package contents:

Yato cordless angle impact wrench 270 Nm user instructions:
1. Fitting the battery: Push a charged Yato 18V battery into the battery slot until the latches lock. Remove the battery by pressing the latch and sliding the battery out.
2. Choosing and fitting the socket: Remove the battery. Choose a 1/2″ impact socket of the correct size for the fastener and push it onto the drive. Use only sockets intended for impact use.
3. Starting the fastener: Turn the bolt or nut by hand at least two full turns so that the thread engages correctly.
4. Selecting the mode and direction: Select the direction of rotation with the switch. Release the trigger lock, start the tool and select a suitable level or the tightening mode with the control panel button; the indicator light for the selected mode comes on.
5. Tightening: Place the socket on the nut before pressing the trigger, hold the tool with both hands and start at low speed. When the impact mechanism starts knocking, release the trigger. Check the final tightening torque with a torque wrench; loosening requires on average 75–80% of the tightening torque.
6. Loosening: Select anticlockwise rotation. If the breakaway torque of the fastener exceeds the maximum torque of the tool, use another tool to loosen it. Release the trigger as soon as the fastener has loosened and wait for the rotation to stop.
7. Maintenance: Remove the battery before maintenance. Clean the body and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Check the condition of the sockets and drive after use. Take breaks; the temperature of the outer surfaces must not exceed 60 °C.
Warnings:
- Noise: Sound pressure level 102.7 dB(A), so always wear hearing protection.
- Personal protective equipment: Wear safety glasses and protective gloves.
- Vibration: 14.8 m/s², so limit continuous use and take breaks.
- Battery out before changing the socket: Change the socket, make adjustments and carry out maintenance only with the battery removed.
- Impact sockets only: Ordinary sockets can crack in impact use.
- Overtightening: A long impact time tightens the fastener further; check the torque with a torque wrench, especially on small fasteners.
- Hidden wiring: Hold the tool by the insulated gripping surfaces if the fastener may hit a live cable.
- Li-Ion battery: Use only compatible Yato 18V batteries and chargers, do not short-circuit the terminals and do not expose the battery to temperatures above 130 °C.
- Children: Keep the tool and battery out of the reach of children.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Where is the Yato cordless angle impact wrench 270 Nm better suited than a straight impact wrench?
Thanks to the angle head, the socket fits onto the nut from the side, so the wrench fits into tight gaps that a straight impact wrench cannot reach.
Are a battery and charger included with the body-only model?
No. The tool uses Yato 18V batteries YT-828461–YT-828465, which are charged with Yato 18V chargers.
What does the tightening mode do?
In clockwise rotation, the tool limits the speed and stops at the target torque. In anticlockwise rotation, it loosens at full speed and slows down when the fastener comes loose.
Is 270 Nm enough for car wheel bolts?
The tightening torque of wheel bolts is typically 90–140 Nm, but final tightening is always done with a torque wrench. Loosening rusted bolts may require more force than the maximum torque of the tool.
Can screwdriver bits be used with the wrench?
Yes, via a 1/2″–1/4″ bit adapter intended for impact use. Place the bit in the screw before starting the tool.
Recycling instructions:
The Yato cordless angle impact wrench 270 Nm is electrical and electronic equipment that must not be disposed of with mixed waste. Take the device to a WEEE collection point at the end of its life. Take Li-Ion batteries separately to battery collection; tape the battery terminals before returning them to prevent short circuits. Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and the plastic parts into plastic collection.
