Description
Yato cordless paint sprayer 18V, body only is a cordless HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) paint sprayer with a brushless motor, a maximum working pressure of 25 kPa, an output of up to 1000 ml/min and 1000 ml container capacity. The sprayer needs no compressor or mains power. The body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger for Yato 18V system Li-Ion slide-on batteries.
In the HVLP principle, paint is atomised with a large volume of air at low pressure, which reduces overspray and material waste. The sprayer comes with four nozzles (1.8 / 2.2 / 2.6 / 3.0 mm) for matching the nozzle size to the viscosity of the material. The adjustable air cap selects a round, vertical flat or horizontal flat spray pattern, and the paint volume control and the fan adjustment lever regulate the material feed and the spray width.
The spray unit is removed with the release button and replaced with the supplied blower nozzle. As a blower, the unit removes dust from surfaces before painting, cleans tools of plaster dust or blows leaves. The bent suction tube in the container is turned according to the working direction, so paint is drawn up even when painting ceilings or low surfaces.
The unit weighs 1.7 kg, with insulation class III and vibration below 2.5 m/s². The supplied viscosity cup shows whether the paint is thin enough: the recommended maximum flow time is 60 seconds. Yato 18V batteries YT-828461–YT-828465 also fit other tools in the same system.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless paint sprayer 18V, body only, is designed for applying paints, varnishes and other coatings once the material has been thinned to the flow specified by the viscosity cup. Flammable materials are not sprayed. Areas to be sprayed are masked off with masking tape, such as the Blue Dolphin masking tape 627 professional grade, and the surroundings are protected with, for example, the Painter masking film with tape for outdoor use. Paint is mixed until smooth before measuring the viscosity, for example with a drill-mounted mixer such as the Vorel paint mixer PP 80 x 500 mm.
- Fences, gazebos and timber structures: Painting boarding and battens with a flat spray pattern from about 20–30 cm.
- Furniture, doors and mouldings: Finer work with a small paint volume and a narrow fan from about 5–15 cm.
- Radiators and metal parts: Round spray pattern for corners, edges and hard-to-reach spots.
- Ceilings and high surfaces: The suction tube is turned upwards for overhead work so that it stays in the paint.
- Dust removal and blowing: Using the blower nozzle to remove dust from surfaces before painting, clean tools of plaster dust and blow leaves.

User instructions for the Yato cordless paint sprayer 18V, body only:
All fitting, adjustment and cleaning is done with the battery removed. Read the entire user manual before first use.
- Preparing the paint: Mix the paint until smooth and measure the viscosity: dip the viscosity cup into the paint, lift it out and time the flow. A flow time over 60 seconds means the paint is thinned according to the manufacturer’s instructions and measured again.
- Spray unit: Align the lugs of the spray unit with the notches in the body and push it fully in until the lock clicks. Pull gently to check that the unit does not come loose.
- Filling the container: Unscrew the container, turn the bent end of the suction tube according to the working direction, fill up to the marked limit at most and screw the container on tightly.
- Adjustments: Select the spray pattern with the air cap (slot vertical = horizontal surfaces, slot horizontal = vertical surfaces, round = corners and edges). Set the spray adjustment lever to minimum before turning the air cap. Adjust the paint volume and fan width with a test spray on cardboard.
- Spraying: Slide a charged Yato 18V battery into place. Hold the sprayer perpendicular to the surface and move it evenly sideways or vertically; start spraying once the movement has begun and stop before the movement ends. Apply several thin coats.
- Blower: Remove the spray unit with the release button and fit the blower nozzle in the same way.
- Cleaning: Clean immediately after use: release the pressure from the container, pour leftover paint back into its tin, and clean the container, suction tube and vent hole with water or a non-flammable solvent suitable for the paint. Do not immerse the air cap in solvent and do not remove the red nozzle seal. Check and clean the air filter regularly.
Warnings:
- Respirator: Always wear a respirator as well as safety glasses, protective gloves and hearing protection; ensure adequate ventilation.
- Never at people or animals: Never point the sprayer at people or animals; the spray can cause an injection injury, in which case seek medical attention immediately.
- Prohibited materials: Do not spray flammable substances, plaster, facade paints, highly abrasive, corrosive or acidic materials, or substances of unknown composition.
- Non-flammable cleaning agents: The unit and spray unit must not be cleaned with flammable solvents.
- Seal and guard: Do not use the unit if the nozzle seal is missing or damaged or if the guards are damaged.
- Work area: Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area. Children or untrained persons must not use the sprayer.
- Batteries: Use only Yato 18V batteries and their chargers; do not expose the battery to temperatures above 130 °C or short-circuit the terminals.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Are a battery and charger included with the Yato cordless paint sprayer 18V body-only model?
No. The delivery includes the sprayer with a 1000 ml container, four nozzles, a blower nozzle and a viscosity cup. Suitable batteries are Yato 18V batteries YT-828461–YT-828465.
Does the paint need to be thinned?
The paint is thinned if its flow time from the supplied viscosity cup is over 60 seconds. Thinning is done according to the paint manufacturer’s recommendation.
