Description
Yato cordless impact wrench 285 Nm 4 Ah (YT-828051) is an 18 V impact wrench with a brushless motor, a 1/2″ (12.7 mm) square drive and, inside it, a 1/4″ (6.35 mm) hex chuck. The maximum torque is 285 Nm. The set includes a 4 Ah Li-Ion battery, a charger and a carrying case. The wrench is part of the Yato 18 V system.
The speed is 0–3000 min⁻¹ and the impact rate 0–3800 impacts/min, and both are adjusted steplessly by how far the trigger is pressed. The wrench is designed for tightening and loosening M6–M20 threaded joints with 1/2″ impact sockets.
The MODE button on the control panel selects three working ranges, L, M and H, and an automatic mode. In automatic mode the wrench tightens at full power, and when loosening it can limit the speed once the joint has come loose. The LED indicators on the panel show the selected range.
The hex chuck inside the square drive takes 1/4″ hex-shank bits and drill bits intended for impact use, so the same tool also drives screws and wood screws and installs wedge anchors. When the maximum torque is reached, the overload clutch disengages the drive from the square drive.
The wrench weighs 1.2 kg and has IP rating IPX0, so it is used only in dry conditions. There is a metal belt hook at the bottom of the handle.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless impact wrench 285 Nm 4 Ah is designed for tightening and loosening threaded joints, screws and wood screws, and for installing wedge anchors in installation, maintenance, repair and workshop work.
- Vehicle and machine maintenance: Tightening and loosening M6–M20 bolts and nuts with 1/2″ impact sockets; the working range is selected according to the joint size and the torque required.
- Steel structures and racks: Fitting and removing mounting bolts; the automatic mode makes it easier to loosen tight joints without damaging the thread.
- Wood and installation work: Driving wood screws and fixing screws with 1/4″ hex-shank impact bits directly in the chuck of the square drive; a pilot hole prevents the material from splitting.
- Installing fixings: Tightening wedge anchors and nuts on threaded rods; the first turns are made by hand.
A suitable extra battery is the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery. For joints that need higher torque, the same system has the Yato cordless impact wrench 18V BL 1/2″ 700Nm, body only. The same wrench is also available as a body-only model without battery and charger (YT-828052).

User instructions for the Yato cordless impact wrench 285 Nm 4 Ah:
Charging the battery: The battery is supplied uncharged. Place the battery in the charger and plug the charger into a socket; the charger indicator light shows the charging status. When charging is complete, unplug the charger and pull the battery out while pressing the latch.
Fitting the socket: Remove the battery. Choose an impact socket of the correct size for the part to be tightened and fit it on the square drive. Select the direction of rotation with the switch and fit the battery.
Tightening and loosening: First turn the bolt or nut onto the thread by hand by at least two turns. Hold the wrench with both hands, place the socket on the nut and press the trigger. The further you press the trigger, the higher the speed. When the overload clutch engages or the impact mechanism starts hammering once the joint is tight, release the trigger.
Selecting the operating mode: Use the MODE button to select L, M, H or automatic mode according to the size and type of joint and the torque required. The automatic mode is intended for threaded joints that need more precise control.
Using the HEX chuck: Push a 1/4″ hex-shank impact bit or drill bit fully into the chuck and check that it has locked. Start at low speed and place the bit in the screw before starting. For screws, drill a pilot hole the size of the screw core diameter.
Maintenance and storage: Remove the battery after work and check the wrench and accessories. Clean the housing and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Store the wrench in a dry, clean place.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual before use. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves.
- Remove the battery before changing the socket or bit, adjustments, maintenance and storage.
- Use only sockets, bits and drill bits intended for impact use; ordinary bits can break under impact loads.
- Hold the wrench by its insulated gripping surfaces if the accessory may hit hidden electrical wiring.
- The wrench must not be used to power attachments.
- Do not overload the wrench; the temperature of the outer surfaces must not exceed 60 °C. Take breaks during prolonged use.
- Use only Yato 18 V system batteries and chargers. Do not expose the battery to fire or to temperatures above 130 °C, do not short-circuit the battery contacts and do not use a damaged battery.
- Not for use by children. Do not use in rain or damp locations (IPX0).
