Description
Procat safety glasses 802 are clear-lens eye protectors that meet the requirements of the EN 166:2001 standard. The glasses are intended to protect against high-speed particles and low-energy impacts, that is, chips, fragments and dust particles thrown off during working.
The lens is one-piece and clear: it does not change colour perception, so the glasses can be used indoors and in dim light without reducing visibility. The lens curves round the face to the sides, so side protection is part of the lens and no separate side shield is needed. The curved shape also widens the field of vision to the sides compared with a flat lens.
The arms are adjustable: the length of the arm is changed with a stepped adjustment, so the glasses can be made to fit closely on faces of different sizes. A close fit is a precondition for protection, as particles can get under and past loose-fitting glasses. The light construction keeps the weight on the bridge of the nose low, even during long use.
There are two versions of the glasses: standard and anti-fog. The anti-fog version is treated so that moisture condensing on the lens spreads into a continuous film instead of droplets that obstruct vision. The anti-fog version is intended for situations where the temperature changes, the work is physical or a respirator is worn at the same time. A dark-lens option for outdoor work is the Procat safety glasses dark lens, UV-protected dark sunglasses.
Intended use and suitability:
The safety glasses are intended to protect the eyes from mechanical hazards in work where material comes loose or is thrown off.
- Sawing, drilling and grinding: chips and fragments that come off when working wood, metal and stone.
- Demolition and striking work: chiselling and hammering, where fragments fly off in the direction of the blow.
- Dusty work stages: cleaning, blowing and material handling where fine dust rises into the air.
- Indoor work and dim light: the clear lens does not darken the view, so the glasses are also suitable for working in poor light.
- Anti-fog version: temperature changes, physical work and use with a respirator.

Procat safety glasses 802 instructions for use:
Before use: Check the lens for scratches, cracks and pits. A scratched lens scatters light and has reduced impact resistance, so replace the glasses if visibility has deteriorated or the lens is damaged.
Fitting: Adjust the length of the arms so that the lens sits close to the face and rests on the bridge of the nose. The glasses fit correctly when they stay in place when you turn your head and bend down. When used with a respirator, position the top edge of the respirator so that exhaled air does not rise behind the lens.
Cleaning: First rinse the lens under running water to remove loose dust, as wiping dry scratches it. Wash with a mild soap solution and dry by dabbing with a soft cloth. Do not use solvents, abrasives or paper towels. The surface treatment of the anti-fog version wears off with abrasive cleaning.
Storage: Store the glasses in a pouch or case, separate from tools. Avoid storing them in sunshine and heat; heat warps the frame and weakens the anti-fog treatment.
Warnings:
- The glasses protect against high-speed particles and low-energy impacts; they do not protect against high-energy impacts, molten metal, chemical splashes, arc welding radiation or laser radiation.
- Replace a scratched, cracked or impacted lens immediately.
- Loose-fitting glasses do not protect: particles get under and past the lens.
- Do not modify the glasses or use any parts other than the product’s own.
- Some users may get skin symptoms from the frame material; stop using the glasses if symptoms appear.
- The glasses do not replace other protective equipment in work that needs a face shield or mask.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which standard do the glasses comply with? The glasses meet the requirements of the EN 166:2001 standard and are intended to protect against high-speed particles and low-energy impacts.
What is the difference between the standard and anti-fog versions? The lens of the anti-fog version is surface-treated so that moisture spreads into a continuous film instead of droplets; visibility is maintained when the temperature changes and with a respirator.
Do the glasses fit over prescription glasses? The glasses are light and curved, but they are intended to be worn on their own. For wearing over prescription glasses, choose a protector sized for that purpose.
Can the glasses be used for welding? No. The clear lens does not filter the radiation from the welding arc; use a welding shield for welding.
How do I clean the glasses without scratching them? First rinse with water, wash with a mild soap solution and dry by dabbing with a soft cloth, with no solvents, abrasives or paper.
When should the glasses be replaced? When the lens has scratches, cracks or impact marks, or when the arms no longer hold the glasses firmly in place.
Recycling instructions:
Sort discarded safety glasses into plastic collection if the local waste advice service accepts mixed plastics; otherwise, into mixed waste or energy waste. Sort the cardboard hanging card into cardboard collection and any storage pouch into plastic collection.
