Description
The Schwan extension pole holder for skimming blades is an adapter that connects a skimming blade to an extension pole with an 18 mm thread. The holder is attached to the handle of the blade and screwed onto the end of the pole, turning the hand tool into a pole tool.
The thread is the 18 mm (M18) internal thread common on painting and filling tools, so the holder fits ordinary telescopic and extension poles. The connection transfers the pushing force from the pole to the blade, so filler can be applied and smoothed with control even from a distance.
The angle of the holder is adjustable, so the position of the blade relative to the pole can be changed to suit the job: on the ceiling, on the wall and on the floor the blade is held at different angles, and the position of the pole does not need to change. The plastic and composite construction of the body keeps the end of the pole light. Light weight is essential when working with a pole: a heavy head increases the leverage on the pole and makes it harder to control the angle of the blade.
The holder is intended for Schwan skimming blade stainless steel blades, whose handle has a mounting point for the adapter. The blade and the extension pole are sold separately.
Intended use and suitability:
The holder extends the reach of a skimming blade from floor level to the ceiling and the upper parts of walls.
- Skimming ceilings: applying and smoothing filler while standing on the floor, with long continuous strokes and without scaffolding or trestles.
- High wall surfaces: the upper parts of the wall and the ceiling line can be reached in one stroke with the blade on the end of the pole.
- Floor levelling: spreading and levelling compound in a standing position instead of crouching.
- Not suitable: for other manufacturers’ blades with a different mounting profile, or for levering.
Package contents:
- 1 x extension pole holder for skimming blade
- Skimming blade and extension pole not included in the package

Schwan extension pole holder instructions for use:
Attaching to the pole: Clean the thread of the extension pole. Screw the holder clockwise onto the end of the pole and tighten by hand. Do not tighten with tools, as this damages the thread.
Attaching the blade: Place the blade centrally in the mounting point of the holder and lock it. Test the attachment by hand before lifting the blade to the ceiling.
Adjusting the angle: Before starting work, adjust the angle of the holder to suit the job, and make sure the adjustment is locked before lifting the blade to the work surface.
Working: Keep the blade at a small angle to the surface and draw it in long, continuous strokes. Set the length of the pole so that you do not need to overreach.
Maintenance: Wash the holder with water immediately after use and remove filler from the thread and locking mechanism before it hardens. Store in a dry place.
Warnings:
- Check the attachment of the pole and blade and the locking of the angle adjustment before every work stage, because a loose connection lets the blade fall.
- A long pole easily hits light fittings, windows and cables; check the working space in advance.
- A metal pole conducts electricity: keep a distance from live parts and exposed wiring.
- Do not use the holder for levering or striking.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
