Description
Yato cordless drywall screwdriver, body only (YT-82076) is an 18 V cordless screwdriver for fixing plasterboard, wood and wood-based panels. The speed is 0–4000 min⁻¹, and with the collated screw attachment the tool feeds screws on a strip with a diameter of 3.5–4.2 mm and a length of 25–55 mm. The product is a body-only model without a battery and charger.
The screwdriver comes with two attachments: a collated screw attachment for series work and an attachment for single screws. The collated screw attachment has an extendable guide marked with a millimetre scale for the screw length and an adjustment knob for setting the driving depth so that the screw head sits flush with the board surface. After each screw is driven, the strip advances automatically and the next screw moves into position at the tip.
The spindle only starts rotating when the screwdriver is pressed against the material with the screw, and the speed is controlled by how hard the trigger is pressed. The trigger lock keeps the motor running during long screwing runs, and the overload clutch operates when the maximum torque is reached. With the direction switch, screws can also be removed.
The tool holder is a 1/4″ (6.35 mm) hex socket, and the screwdriver weighs 1.49 kg without the battery. The noise level is LpA 72 dB(A) and vibration 1.63 m/s². Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries are suitable as the power source; the protection class is III and the IP rating IPX0.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless drywall screwdriver, body only, is designed for repetitive screwing in board structures where hundreds of screws are driven to the same depth.
- Partition walls and suspended ceilings: Fixing plasterboard to metal or timber studs in partition walls, suspended ceilings and sloping ceilings with collated screws.
- Loft conversions: Boarding loft spaces, where a cordless tool makes moving on scaffolding and ladders easier.
- Wood and wood-based panels: Fixing chipboard, OSB and plywood to timber studs.
- Single screws: Repair and additional screwing with the single-screw attachment, so that countersunk screws sit flush with the surface.
The screwdriver belongs to the Yato 18 V battery system; a suitable power source is the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and for charging, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A. The same screwdriver with a battery and charger is the Yato cordless drywall screwdriver set 18V 4.0 Ah Li-Ion.

User instructions for the Yato cordless drywall screwdriver, body only:
Single screws: Remove the battery. Push the extension adapter into the chuck, press the bit holder cover all the way down and fit a short screwdriver bit about 25 mm long. With this bit, the cover rests against the surface and the screw head sinks flush with the surface.
Collated screws: Fit the long screwdriver bit in the chuck and press the collated screw attachment all the way on; lock it by moving the lock to the closed padlock symbol. Thread the screw strip into the guide until the first screw is in the centre of the attachment opening. Pull the guide out to the reading that matches the screw length and fine-tune the driving depth with the adjustment knob.
Test screwing: Do a test screw in scrap material of the same hardness before the actual work and adjust the depth if necessary.
Screwdriving: Hold the screwdriver with both hands. Place the front of the guide at the screwing point, press the trigger and, once the motor has started, press the screwdriver against the surface. When the screw is in, lift the tool away; the strip moves the next screw into place. For long runs, use the trigger lock.
Maintenance: Remove the battery before maintenance. Clean the housing and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals.
Warnings:
- Drilling with the screwdriver is prohibited: the overload clutch can stop or break the drill bit.
- Hold the tool firmly with both hands; a jamming screw can twist the tool against the direction of spindle rotation.
- Hold the tool by the insulated gripping surfaces if the screw may hit hidden electrical cables.
- Remove the battery before changing the attachment or bit and before maintenance.
- Wear safety glasses and protective gloves.
- Secure small and light workpieces with clamps before screwing.
- Do not use the tool in rain or wet conditions (IPX0) or in explosive environments.
- Use only Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries; do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Does the Yato cordless drywall screwdriver body-only model come with a battery and screws? No. The delivery includes the screwdriver, attachments for single and collated screws, an extension adapter and screwdriver bits. The battery, charger and screws are purchased separately.
What size collated screws fit the attachment? Collated screws with a diameter of 3.5–4.2 mm and a length of 25–55 mm.
How is the screw driving depth adjusted? The guide is pulled out to the reading that matches the screw length, and fine adjustment is made with the adjustment knob at the back of the guide. A test screw in scrap material ensures the correct depth.
Can the screwdriver be used for drilling? No. According to the manufacturer’s instructions, drilling is prohibited.
Does the screwdriver work without the collated screw attachment? Yes. With the single-screw attachment and a short screwdriver bit, the tool drives single screws.
Recycling instructions:
