Drills and drivers are cordless machines for drilling holes and driving screws and fasteners. The group includes cordless drills, hammer drills, impact drivers, drywall screwdrivers and a magnetic drill. The machines are used in construction and installation work, joinery and metalwork, and in households. All machines use the Yato 18V battery.

Selection criteria

  • Machine type: a drill drills and drives screws in wood and metal, a hammer drill also drills into brick and light concrete, and an impact driver tightens long screws and fasteners.
  • Torque: 40–55 Nm is enough for furniture work and light screwdriving, while 75–150 Nm handles large drill bits and long screws.
  • Drywall screwdriver: the depth stop sets every screw into the plasterboard at the same depth.
  • Magnetic drill: the magnetic base holds the machine on a steel structure, and it drills large holes in steel, up to 35 mm.
  • Body only or set: a body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger, while a set includes one or two batteries and a charger.

Frequently asked questions about drills and drivers

What is the difference between a drill and a hammer drill?
A hammer drill has a hammer function for drilling into brick and light concrete. For continuous concrete drilling, an SDS+ rotary hammer is a better choice.

What is an impact driver used for?
For tightening long screws, coach screws and fasteners. The machine takes 1/4" hex bits and delivers high torque in a compact size.
