Description
Yato cordless angle grinder 18V BL body is a brushless 18 V angle grinder for 125 mm discs. The disc speed is 8500 min⁻¹, and the grinder is supplied without a battery or charger for Li-Ion batteries of the Yato 18V system.
The grinder is designed for grinding and cutting metal and mineral building materials, such as brick, natural and artificial stone, concrete, ceramic and concrete tiles and clinker, with discs suited to the material. The spindle thread is M14 and the disc bore 22.2 mm, so the grinder takes standard 125 mm cutting, grinding and flap discs, diamond discs for dry use and M14-threaded wire brushes.
The brushless motor works without wearing carbon brushes, which reduces motor heating and extends service life, and it maintains its performance under load. Soft start accelerates the disc evenly, reduces the start-up jolt and eases the load on the gearbox. The air intakes are protected against metal chips entering the machine.
The device weighs 1.7 kg. The on/off switch is a slide switch on top of the body that is operated with the thumb and can be locked on for extended work. The grinder has insulation class III and IP rating IPX0, so it must not be used in rain or wet conditions.
Uses and suitability:
The angle grinder is suitable for installation, construction and repair work where no mains power is available. The disc is chosen according to the material, for example the Yato cutting disc for metal or a Yato flap disc 125 mm.
- Metal cutting: Cutting profiles, pipes, threaded rods and sheets in a straight line with a cutting disc held perpendicular to the surface.
- Grinding metal surfaces: Grinding welds, edges and burrs with a grinding disc or flap disc; when grinding with the side, hold the grinder at an angle of no more than 30° to the surface.
- Working tiles and stone materials: Cutting wall and floor tiles, clinker, brick and concrete with discs for stone or diamond discs for dry use.
- Rust and paint removal: Wire brushes and sanding discs for removing old paint and rust from metal parts.
- Sites without mains power: The grinder uses Yato 18V system batteries; for charging, the system includes, for example, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A.
Package contents:
- Cordless angle grinder (body only)
- Auxiliary handle
- Disc guard
- Disc wrench
Battery, charger and grinding discs are not included.
Features:
- Brushless motor: No replaceable carbon brushes, less heating and stable operation under load.
- Speed 8500 min⁻¹: Steady, high speed for cutting and grinding with 125 mm discs.
- Soft start: The disc accelerates gradually, which reduces the jolt at start-up, improves control and eases the load on the gearbox.
- Protected air intakes: The design prevents metal chips from entering the machine.
- Slide switch with lock: Thumb-operated switch on top of the body; lock for extended work. After a power interruption, the grinder does not start until the switch is released and switched on again.
- Standard mounting: 125 mm discs, 22.2 mm bore, M14 spindle thread, disc thickness up to 6 mm; flange position for thin (≤3.2 mm) and thick (>3.2 mm) discs.
- Spindle lock: Disc change with the wrench.

Yato cordless angle grinder 18V BL body user manual:
Carry out all assembly and adjustment with the battery removed. Read the entire user manual before first use.
- Guard and auxiliary handle: Place the disc guard around the spindle and tighten it so that the unprotected part of the disc faces away from your hands. Screw the auxiliary handle firmly into the body.
- Fitting the disc: Place the upper flange on the spindle, the disc on the flange and screw the lower flange onto the spindle. Press the spindle lock and tighten the lower flange with the wrench. An M14-threaded disc or brush is screwed directly onto the spindle without flanges.
- Fitting the battery: Slide the Yato 18V battery into the battery slot with the contacts towards the machine until the latch locks. Check the battery charge by pressing the button on the battery.
- Test run: Start the grinder and let it run without load for about 1 minute. Remove the battery and check the disc mounting.
- Starting: Press the rear of the switch on top of the body and push the switch forward to position (I); the switch can be locked. Switch off by pressing the rear of the switch, which makes it return.
- Working: Secure the workpiece in a vice or clamp and hold the grinder with both hands. Grind with the side of the disc at an angle of no more than 30° with even back-and-forth movements; cut in a straight line and guide the grinder in the direction of disc rotation.
- Finishing work: Switch off the grinder and let the disc stop completely. Remove the battery and let the disc cool before inspecting it.
- Maintenance: Clean the body, ventilation openings, switches, auxiliary handle and guard with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Do not modify the grinder during the warranty period; faults are repaired by an authorised service centre.
Warnings:
- Protective equipment: Always wear eye, hearing and respiratory protection, protective gloves and suitable work clothing.
- Guard always in place: Never use the grinder without the disc guard fitted.
- Disc speed rating: Use only discs with a permitted peripheral speed of at least 80 m/s and a permitted rotational speed of at least 8500 min⁻¹.
- Kickback: A jamming disc can throw the grinder towards the user. Do not cut along a curved line, do not tilt the disc in the cut and do not restart a cut inside the material.
- Prohibited blades: Do not use chainsaw chain blades, circular saw blades or segmented diamond discs with a segment gap of more than 10 mm.
- No liquid cooling or modifications: Do not use accessories that require liquid cooling, do not polish with the grinder and do not modify the grinder or its guards.
- Sparks: Do not work near flammable materials or in potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Hidden wiring: When plunge cutting into walls, the disc may hit electrical wiring or gas pipes; hold the grinder by its insulated gripping surfaces.
- Noise: The sound power level is 96 dB(A); hearing protection is essential.
- Batteries: Use only Yato 18V batteries and their chargers. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or use a damaged battery.
