Description
Yato cordless plastic welder 18V, body only (YT-824483) is a cordless hot stapler for repairing cracks and fractures in plastic parts. The body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger, and it uses slide-on batteries of the Yato 18V system.
The unit heats the metal staple fitted in the heating holder in about 3 seconds to a maximum of 500 °C. The hot staple is melted into the plastic across the crack, binding the edges of the crack together and reinforcing the repair. After cooling, the excess part of the staple is cut off, and the surface can be sanded and filled.
The power source is an 18 V Li-ion slide-on battery, so the welder works without mains power or a cable. According to the manufacturer, one charge of a 2 Ah battery heats at least 500 staples.
The power of the welder is 60 W, with insulation class III and its IP rating is IPX0. The unit switches off automatically after about 15 seconds of continuous use, and it has overload protection. The staples come in four shapes for outside and inside corners, straight cracks, and large and curved cracks.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless plastic welder 18V, body only, is designed for repairing cracks in thermoplastic parts with shaped staples. User instructions for the Yato cordless plastic welder 18V, body only:
Read the original user manual before use. Always change staples with the battery removed and the unit cooled down.
- Battery: Charge the Yato 18V battery with the charger intended for it before use.
- Choosing the staple: Choose the shape according to the crack: a for outside corners, b for inside corners, c for small straight cracks, d for large or curved cracks.
- Fitting the staple: Push the ends of the staple into the holes of the heating holder to a depth of about 2–3 mm.
- Fitting the battery: Slide the battery into the battery slot contacts first until the latch locks.
- Stapling: Press the switch all the way down and wait about 3 seconds. Press the hot staple into the plastic across the crack to the required depth and release the switch.
- Removal: Wait 5–10 seconds and pull the welder away slowly so that the staple stays in the material. If necessary, support the staple with the side cutters.
- Finishing: Once the plastic has cooled, cut off the excess part of the staple with pliers, remove extruded plastic with the knife and smooth the surface.
- Maintenance: Remove the battery and let the unit cool down. Clean the housing and ventilation openings with a dry cloth, a brush or compressed air at max. 0.3 MPa without chemicals.
Warnings:
- Burns: The staple, heating holder, metal parts and the plastic being repaired are hot during and after use; wear heat-resistant gloves.
- Safety glasses: Wear safety glasses while stapling.
- Fire hazard: Do not use the unit near flammable materials or in an explosive environment.
- Ventilation: Work in a well-ventilated area; do not cover the air intake openings.
