Description
Yato cordless finishing sander 90 x 187 mm is an 18 V finishing sander with a sanding plate of 90 x 187 mm, an oscillation frequency of 13,000 min⁻¹ and an orbit of 2 mm. The machine is designed primarily for finish sanding wood and to a lesser extent for sanding metal surfaces. The body-only model is supplied without a battery and charger for Yato 18V system Li-Ion slide-on batteries.
The rectangular sanding plate of the finishing sander oscillates in a small orbit, so the machine sands flat surfaces, straight edges and corners. The sanding paper is attached in two ways: with hook-and-loop fastening as 90 x 187 mm sheets or with clamps as 90 x 238 mm sheets, which can also be cut from roll paper.
Dust is drawn through the holes in the sanding plate to the dust extraction port, to which the supplied fabric dust bag is attached. With a separately available adapter, an industrial vacuum hose can be connected to the port. The power switch has positions I and O, and the machine is guided by the main handle and the front auxiliary handle.
The unit weighs 1.48 kg without the battery, and the IP rating is IPX0. The noise level is LpA 77.8 dB(A) and vibration 5.45 m/s². Yato 18V batteries YT-828461–YT-828465 also fit other tools in the same system.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless finishing sander 90 x 187 mm suits sanding large flat surfaces, such as finishing table tops, worktops, skirting boards and garden furniture, as well as wooden garden structures. The equivalent machine sanding with a round pad is the Yato random orbital sander 150 mm pneumatic + hose and dust bag, and the same 18 V battery system includes the model with a smaller sanding plate, Yato sander 18V 84 x 184 mm, body only. For large wall and ceiling surfaces, there is the Yato cordless wall sander 18V 215 mm, body only.
- Table tops and worktops: Sanding flat wooden surfaces along the grain from coarse to fine before oil or varnish.
- Mouldings and edges: The straight sanding plate reaches into corners and along straight edges.
- Garden furniture and structures: Roughening old finishes and finishing wooden surfaces.
- Painted and varnished surfaces: Sanding paint and varnish surfaces before a new treatment.
- Metal surfaces: Light sanding with sheets intended for metal; the same sheet is not used on wood afterwards.

Yato cordless finishing sander 90 x 187 mm user instructions:
Change the sanding paper and make adjustments with the battery removed. Read the entire user manual before first use.
- Hook-and-loop sheet: Place a 90 x 187 mm hook-and-loop sheet on the sanding plate so that the holes in the sheet line up with the holes in the plate and the sheet does not extend over the edges of the plate.
- Clamped sheet: Use a sheet 90 mm wide and 238 mm long. Align the holes, fix both ends in the clamps and make sure the sheet is not skewed.
- Dust extraction: Attach the dust bag to the dust extraction port or connect an industrial vacuum hose with a separately available adapter. Do not use a household vacuum cleaner.
- Starting: Secure the workpiece. Check that the power switch is in position O and slide a charged Yato 18V battery into place until the latch locks. Hold the machine with both hands by the main and auxiliary handles clear of the surface, turn the switch to position I and place the machine on the surface only at full speed.
- Sanding: Move the machine towards and away from you and gradually sideways with even, light pressure, with the whole sheet against the surface. Sand wood along the grain from coarse to fine.
- Sheet condition: Check the sheet during breaks and replace a clogged or worn sheet with a new one.
- Stopping and maintenance: Turn the switch to position O and hold the machine until the sanding plate stops. Remove the battery and clean the body, ventilation openings and handles with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a cloth.
Warnings:
- Dust: Sanding dust from lead paints, certain wood species and metals can be toxic; use a respirator, effective dust extraction and good ventilation.
- Prohibited materials: Do not sand gypsum fillers or fibre-reinforced fillers.
- Protective equipment: Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and suitable work clothing.
- Grip: Hold the machine only by the handles; an incorrect grip can cover the ventilation openings and overheat the machine.
- Pressure: Excessive pressure can overheat the machine, tear the sheet and damage the sanding plate.
- Splinters: Do not check the sanded wood surface with your bare hand.
- Batteries: Use only Yato 18V batteries; do not short-circuit the terminals or use a damaged battery.
