Description
Yato cordless hedge trimmer 56 cm body (YT-82833) is a hedge trimmer from the Yato 18V battery system whose double-sided, laser-sharpened blade has a cutting length of 560 mm. The blade cuts branches up to 19 mm thick, and the cutting speed is 1050 min⁻¹. The body-only model is supplied without a battery or charger.
The tip of the blade has a collision guardthat reduces kickback when cutting close to walls and the ground. Two-stage starting prevents accidental starting: the power switch lock on the front handle and the power switch on the rear handle are held down throughout the work. The trimmer has a safety brake, and there is a transparent hand guard behind the front handle.
The battery sits in the middle of the body under the rear handle, so the centre of gravity is close to the hands and the trimmer is easy to handle even with raised arms. The vibration level is low, and the non-slip surface of the rear handle improves grip. The electrical protection class is III. The blade comes with a blade cover for transport and storage.
The trimmer runs on Li-Ion batteries of the Yato 18V system; according to the manufacturer, continuous operating time on one charge of a 2 Ah battery is about 45 minutes. The sound pressure level is 80.0 dB(A), the sound power level 87.0 dB(A) and the vibration 3.5 m/s²; the guaranteed sound power level under Directive 2000/14/EC is 90 dB(A). The same trimmer with a battery and charger is product number YT-82832.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless hedge trimmer 56 cm body is designed for trimming and shaping shrub crowns and hedges and for cutting thin branches and climbing plants. Being battery-powered, it is quieter than a petrol tool and can be used near buildings and in areas beyond the reach of a mains cable. A suitable battery is, for example, the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and a suitable charger the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. A shorter model with a rotating rear handle is the Yato cordless hedge trimmer 18V 45 cm, body only, and for tall hedges the Yato cordless long-reach hedge trimmer 18V, body only.
- Top of hedges: move the 560 mm blade in wide arcs tilted 5–10° in the cutting direction; a taut line helps achieve an even height.
- Sides of hedges: vertical cutting is done with curved movements from bottom to top and top to bottom, so both sides of the double-sided blade are used.
- Near walls and the ground: the collision guard on the blade tip reduces kickback when cutting along a facade, fence or lawn edge.
- Shrubs and climbing plants: shaping crowns and cutting branches and climbing plants up to 19 mm thick.

Yato cordless hedge trimmer 56 cm body user manual:
Preparation: always remove the battery before assembly and maintenance. Inspect the trimmer visually, remove the blade cover and check that the blades are not damaged. Mark a safety zone around the work area and remove loose branches and debris from earlier cutting. Also check the other side of the hedge.
Battery: Push the battery into the battery slot until the latch locks. Remove the battery by pressing both latches and pulling the battery out of the body.
Starting and stopping: take a stable stance. Hold the front handle and press the power switch lock, grip the rear handle with the other hand and press the power switch. Keep both pressed throughout the work. The trimmer stops when the switch is released.
Cutting: cut at full speed with wide movements and tilt the blade about 5–10° in the cutting direction. Do not let the unit run at low speed. If the blade jams, switch off the trimmer, remove the battery and let the parts cool before clearing the cause of the jam.
Maintenance and storage: clean the blades with a brush after every use and protect them with lubricant spray. The blade clearance is 0.2–0.4 mm measured at the fixing screw; dull or damaged blades are sharpened or replaced by an authorised service centre. Store the trimmer in a dry, enclosed space with the battery removed and the blade cover in place.
Warnings:
- Keep all parts of the body away from the blade; do not remove cut material while the blades are moving.
- Hold the trimmer only by its insulated handles; the hedge may contain hidden electrical cables.
- Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and protective gloves.
- Do not use the trimmer in rain or bad weather, especially during thunderstorms.
- Remove the battery before clearing jammed material, maintenance and transport, and fit the blade cover for transport and storage.
- The gearbox front cover gets hot during use; do not touch it.
- Keep children and bystanders away from the work area; take special care on slippery, sloping or uneven ground.
- Take regular breaks. Stop work immediately if you experience nausea, headache, dizziness or visual disturbances.
