Description
Yato cordless drill 60 Nm, body only (YT-827682) is an 18 V drill/driver with a brushless motor and a maximum torque of 60 Nm. The body-only model is supplied in a carrying case without a battery and charger, so it suits users who already have Yato 18 V batteries. The tool is part of the Yato 18 V system and uses its Li-Ion slide-on batteries.
The two-speed mechanical gearbox gives speeds of 0–460 min⁻¹ and 0–2000 min⁻¹. In first gear the maximum torque is 60 Nm and in second gear 30 Nm. The low speed range is intended for screwdriving and drilling metal, and the high speed range for drilling wood.
The keyless, self-centring 13 mm chuck holds cylindrical-shank drill bits and bit holders. The maximum drilling diameter is 38 mm in wood, 13 mm in steel and 12 mm in soft brick. The tool has no hammer function.
The ring behind the chuck selects one of 19 torque settings for screwdriving or the drilling position, in which the torque-limiting clutch is disengaged. The trigger adjusts the speed steplessly, and the spindle brake stops the chuck. The centre position of the reversing switch locks the trigger.
The tool weighs 0.98 kg and has insulation class III and IP rating IPX0, so it is used only in dry conditions. The declared sound pressure level is 60.7 dB(A) and vibration 1.215 m/s². There is a metal belt hook at the bottom of the handle.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless drill 60 Nm, body only, is designed for drilling holes in wood, wood-based materials, metal, tiles, soft brick and mortar, and for driving and removing screws.
- Installation and finishing work: Assembling furniture, fitting rails and brackets, and installing suspended ceilings; the light tool makes long periods of overhead work easier.
- Woodwork: Holes in wood and wood-based boards with bits up to 38 mm; when drilling through holes, place a piece of wood under the workpiece to prevent splintering.
- Metalwork: Holes in steel with bits up to 13 mm at low speed; cool the bit with machine oil, and paraffin can be used for aluminium.
- Tiles, soft brick and mortar: Drilling with bits intended for the material at low speed and moderate pressure; hard stone and concrete require a hammer drill.
- Screwdriving: Driving and removing screws with adjustable torque; find the right setting by testing on a scrap piece.
The body-only model needs a Yato 18 V battery and charger, for example the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A. The model in the same system with a hammer function for drilling brick and concrete is the Yato cordless hammer drill 18V BL 75Nm, body only. The same tool is also available as a set with one or two 2 Ah batteries and a charger (YT-827680 and YT-827681).

User instructions for the Yato cordless drill 60 Nm, body only:
Fitting the battery: Slide a charged Yato 18 V battery into the battery slot at the bottom of the handle until the latch locks. To remove the battery, press the latch and slide the battery out. Make all adjustments and bit changes with the battery removed.
Gear and torque: Select the low speed for screwdriving and the high speed for drilling. Set the torque with the ring behind the chuck, using the marked positions only. Start with the lowest setting and increase it until the screw is tightened correctly. For drilling, turn the ring to the drill symbol; the numbered settings are not used for drilling.
Fitting drill bits and screwdriver bits: Insert a cylindrical-shank drill bit into the chuck and tighten the chuck by hand. A screwdriver bit is fitted in a bit holder or directly in the chuck. Check that the bit is straight and held firmly.
Drilling: Secure the workpiece with clamps or in a vice and mark the hole position with a centre punch. Start at low speed and press only in line with the bit. For large holes, drill a pilot hole first, and pull the bit out of the hole from time to time to let it cool.
Direction and end of work: Change the direction of rotation only when the chuck has stopped. When you finish work, set the reversing switch to the centre position, remove the battery and check the tool. Clean the housing and ventilation openings with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Store the tool in a dry place with the battery removed.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual before use. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves and, where necessary, ear defenders and a respirator.
- Remove the battery before adjustments, bit changes, maintenance and storage.
- Hold the tool firmly: high torque can twist the tool if the bit jams. If the bit jams, release the trigger immediately.
- Hold the tool by its insulated gripping surfaces if the bit may hit hidden electrical wiring.
- Do not run a bit faster than its maximum permitted speed; long bits can bend when they spin freely.
- Do not hold small workpieces in your hand; secure them with clamps or in a vice.
- Do not change the direction of rotation while the tool is running. The temperature of the outer surfaces must not exceed 60 °C; let the tool cool down if it overheats.
- Use only Yato 18 V system batteries and chargers. Do not expose the battery to fire or to temperatures above 130 °C, do not short-circuit the battery contacts and do not use a damaged battery.
- Not for use by children. Do not use in rain or damp locations (IPX0).
