Description
Yato cordless brush cutter 2x18V body only is a 36 V brush cutter running on two 18 V batteries, with a brushless motor and 5800 min⁻¹ speed. It comes with both a 340 mm cutting line head and a 255 mm three-tooth metal blade, so the same machine cuts grass and clears shrubs and woody shoots. Batteries and charger are not included.
Two Yato 18V range Li-Ion batteries are connected in series, giving the motor a voltage of 36 V. The brushless motor works without wearing carbon brushes and keeps the speed steady under load; the soft start accelerates the cutting attachment smoothly. The line head uses 1.6 mm line (3 m on the spool), and the line is fed by tapping the spool on the ground, after which the blade on the guard cuts the line to the right length.
The two-part drive shaft is separated at the quick coupling for transport and storage. The angle and position of the double handle are adjusted to suit the user, and the brush cutter hangs from the supplied harness, which has an emergency release. The metal blade’s mounting hole is 25.4 mm and the blade thickness 1.6 mm, so the machine takes standard-size clearing blades and, for example, a brush cutter wire brush.
The body weighs 3.6 kg without batteries. The IP rating is IPX0 and the electrical safety protection class III. The sound power level is 88.4 dB(A) with the blade and 92.5 dB(A) with the line; the guaranteed sound power level is 94 dB(A). The vibration values are 1.35 m/s² on the right handle and 1.11 m/s² on the left.
Uses and suitability:
The brush cutter is intended for cutting grass in places a lawn mower cannot reach, and for clearing shrubs and woody plants with the metal blade.
- Cutting long grass and meadow areas: the 340 mm line head and 36 V motor cut dense, tall grass at plot edges, ditch banks and cottage gardens.
- Clearing shrubs and scrub: the 255 mm three-tooth blade cuts woody shoots, raspberry canes and scrub; avoid the upper right quarter of the blade to prevent kickback.
- Around walls, fences and trees: The line head finishes areas where the blade would damage surfaces or tree bark.
- Users of the Yato 18V battery system: The same pair of batteries fits, for example, the Yato cordless chainsaw 16″ 2X18V, body only product; for lighter edge trimming, use the Yato cordless trimmer 18V 102-123 cm 300 mm body only brushless.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless brush cutter 2x18V:
Assemble the brush cutter before first use: fix the cutting guard to the spindle guard with screws, fit the double handle to its mount and join the two parts of the drive shaft with the quick coupling so that the latch hook locks into the hole in the tube. Put on the harness, hang the machine from the hanging eye and adjust the handle angle so that the cutting attachment runs parallel to the ground with your elbows bent. Fit the line head or metal blade between the flanges with the spindle locked; wear protective gloves when fitting the blade.
Push two fully charged Yato 18V batteries of the same size into the battery slot until the latches lock; the machine will not start with one battery. Grip the handles with both hands, press the lock on the right handle and squeeze the switch. Start cutting only at full speed, move the machine from right to left and keep the cutting attachment parallel to the ground. Feed line by tapping the spool lightly on the ground while the machine is running. When clearing with the blade, avoid the upper right quarter of the blade to prevent kickback.
Always remove the batteries before clearing blockages, cleaning and changing the cutting attachment. Replacing the line: unscrew the spool housing, press the locking buttons, clean the spool and wind new 1.6 mm line anticlockwise onto both halves, leaving about 15 cm ends out. Clean the ventilation openings and body after every use and store the machine in a dry place with the blade covered.
Warnings:
Read the instruction manual in full before use. The brush cutter can cause serious injuries.
- Protective equipment: Always wear a safety helmet, face and eye protection, ear defenders, protective gloves, long trousers and non-slip safety footwear.
- Safety zone 15 m: The line and blade throw stones and branches; keep bystanders, children and animals at least 15 metres away.
- Blade kickback: Do not cut with the upper right quarter of the blade; a jamming blade can throw the machine towards the user.
- Approved cutting attachments only: Line spool or metal blade; discs fitted with saw chain and metal wire are prohibited.
- Run-on: The cutting attachment keeps spinning after the motor stops; remove both batteries before maintenance.
- Not in rain: IP rating IPX0: do not expose the machine to rain or moisture.
- Two identical batteries: Always use two Yato 18V batteries of the same size and equally charged; a damaged battery must not be used or transported.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Which batteries does the Yato cordless brush cutter 2x18V need?
Two Yato 18V Li-Ion batteries, for example 2 pcs Yato 18V Li-Ion battery 4.0 Ah, and a charger, such as the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. The batteries must be the same size and equally charged.
Can the brush cutter clear shrubs and scrub?
Yes. The supplied 255 mm metal blade is intended for cutting shrubs and woody shoots; the line head is for grass only.
Do other blades and wire brushes fit?
The blade mounting hole is 25.4 mm and the thickness in the region of up to 1.6 mm; for example, the Yato brush cutter wire brush 150 x 25.4 mm fits the spindle.
How long is the operating time on the batteries?
The operating time depends on the battery capacity and the vegetation; the manufacturer states over 30 minutes of work with a pair of 3.0 Ah batteries, with line or blade.
How is the Yato cordless brush cutter 2x18V transported in a car?
The drive shaft is split into two parts at the quick coupling, the batteries are removed and the blade is covered with the blade guard.
Recycling instructions:
Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and the plastic bags into plastic collection. A discarded Yato cordless brush cutter 2x18V is waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): take the machine to a WEEE collection point or to a shop that accepts electrical equipment, not to mixed waste. Take the Li-Ion batteries separately to a battery collection point with the terminals taped; take a damaged battery to a hazardous waste reception point. A worn metal blade goes to metal collection and worn nylon line is mixed waste.
