Description
Yato solar and car charger 18V charges Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries without mains power: either from a vehicle’s 12–28 V DC socket or with the supplied 50 W solar panel. The charging current is 2 A and the output voltage to the battery 21.5 V DC.
The charger also has a USB-Aport (5 V DC, 2 A), which charges a phone or other mobile device from the 18 V battery, the vehicle socket or the solar panel. This way the same battery can be used both in tools and as a power bank at the cottage, on a boat or at an allotment.
When charging from a vehicle, the charging times are: 2 Ah battery (YT-828461) 70 min, 3 Ah (YT-828462) 100 min, 4 Ah (YT-828463) 135 min, 6 Ah (YT-828464) 200 min and 9 Ah (YT-828465) 300 min. With the solar panel, the charging time depends on the amount of sunlight, the orientation of the panel, cloud cover and shading.
The solar panel has an aluminium frame and a folding support leg that sets the panel at an angle. The charging unit weighs 0.15 kg, and its indicator light shows the charging status. The charging unit has an IP rating of IPX0, so it is kept dry.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato solar and car charger 18V is intended for charging Yato 18 V batteries in places where mains power is not available.
- Cottages and allotments: Charging batteries with the solar panel for garden tools and lights without a mains connection.
- Sites and service vans: Charging batteries while driving from the vehicle’s 12–28 V socket, also in 24 V trucks and work machines.
- Boating and camping: Charging 18 V batteries and a phone from the electrical system of a boat or motorhome or from the solar panel.
- Backup power for mobile devices: The USB-A port charges a phone directly from the 18 V battery, for example during a power cut.
The charger charges batteries such as the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery. For faster charging on mains power, use the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A, and for greater energy needs without the power grid, the Yato portable power station 504Wh 600W.

Instructions for using the Yato solar and car charger 18V:
Charging from a vehicle: Push the battery into the charger. Connect the power cable plug to the charger and the cable to the vehicle socket. When charging is complete, unplug the cable first from the vehicle socket and then from the charger. Remove the battery by pressing the battery locking button and pulling the battery out.
Charging with the solar panel: Set the panel on its support leg fully in sunlight so that the surface is not shaded or covered, and keep it free of dust. Push the battery into the charger and the solar panel cable plug into the charger socket. When charging is complete, disconnect the panel plug and then the battery.
Charging a mobile device: Push an 18 V battery into the charger or connect the charger to the vehicle socket or the solar panel. Connect the device’s charging cable to the charger’s USB-A port. After charging, disconnect the USB plug first from the charger and then from the charged device.
Indicator light: Flashing green = waiting to charge, red lit = charging, green lit = battery charged, flashing red = battery overheated. A steady red light after the full charging time can mean a faulty battery.
Maintenance: Check the charger, cables and plugs before every use. Store the charging unit in a dry place and keep the surface of the solar panel clean.
Warnings:
- Charge only Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries (YT-82842–YT-82845, YT-828461–YT-828465); charging other batteries can cause an electric shock or a fire.
- The solar panel produces direct current whenever light falls on it. Cover the panel glass before opening the junction box cover.
- The charging unit has an IP rating of IPX0: protect it from rain and moisture.
- Do not modify the charger connection to fit the battery, and observe the polarity markings.
- Do not smoke or bring open flames near the charger or battery. Charge in a well-ventilated place.
- Do not use a charger with a damaged cable or housing; have damaged cables replaced at an authorised service centre.
- The charger may be used by children over 8 only under supervision or with instruction. Keep the charger and panel out of the reach of children.
