Description
The Procat 15-piece hole saw set contains 11 bi-metal hole saw blades in the size range 22–114 mm, two arbors, a 300 mm extension bar and a hex key in an aluminium case. The blade sizes are 22, 29, 35, 38, 44, 51, 64, 76, 92, 105 and 114 mm.
Bi-metal blades have a two-material construction: the teeth are high-speed steel and the body backing is tough spring steel. The teeth withstand heat and keep cutting, while the flexible body does not break under side loads. The blades cut wood, plastic, aluminium and other soft materials.
The cooling slots on the side of the blade let chips and heat out of the cut. Cooling keeps the blade diameter unchanged, so the hole size stays accurate even in a long cut where the blade heats up.
The arbor attaches the blade to the machine and keeps it centred during the cut. The pilot drill in the centre of the arbor sets the centre point of the hole and starts the cut before the teeth touch the surface. The set has two arbors: for small and large blades. The aluminium case has a marked place for each blade.
Intended use and suitability:
A hole saw cuts a perfectly round hole in a sheet-like or thin workpiece. The size range 22–114 mm covers the most common lead-through sizes in electrical, plumbing/HVAC and woodwork.
- Electrical installation: recess holes for socket and switch boxes in board and wood, and cable lead-throughs.
- Plumbing and HVAC lead-throughs: holes for pipes and ventilation ducts in wall and ceiling boards.
- Woodwork: lock cases and latch holes in doors, cable holes and ventilation openings in furniture.
- Board work: holes in plasterboard, plywood, chipboard and MDF.
- Light metal and plastic: holes in aluminium sheet and in plastic pipe and sheet.
- Extension bar 300 mm: holes in recesses or behind cabinets where the arbor alone cannot reach.
Package contents:
- Hole saw blades: 22, 29, 35, 38, 44, 51, 64, 76, 92, 105 and 114 mm (11 pcs)
- Arbors, 2 pcs: for small and large blades
- Extension bar 300 mm
- Hex key
- Aluminium case with a marked place for each blade
Features:
- Bi-metal construction: high-speed steel teeth and spring steel body; the cutting edge withstands heat and the body does not break.
- Cooling slots: let chips and heat out, so the blade diameter does not change as it heats up.
- 11 sizes 22–114 mm: the most common hole sizes in construction and maintenance work in one set.
- Two arbors: separate ones for small and large blades; the pilot drill sets the centre point of the hole.
- Extension bar 300 mm: reach into recesses and tight spots.
- Aluminium case: a marked place for each blade keeps the blades in order and safe.
- Hex key: for tightening the locking screw of the arbor’s pilot drill.

Procat 15-piece hole saw set instructions for use:
Assembly: Choose the arbor that matches the blade size. Screw the blade all the way onto the arbor thread and lock the arbor’s drive pins into the holes in the blade. Push the pilot drill through the arbor and tighten the locking screw with the hex key. Fit the arbor shank into the drill chuck.
Drilling: Mark the centre point of the hole. Place the pilot drill on the mark and drill it through first, perpendicular to the surface. Let the teeth touch the surface only once the pilot drill is guiding. Use a low speed and a steady feed: a large diameter means a high peripheral speed, and too much speed burns the teeth. Use a more powerful machine with large blades, as the torque needed increases with the diameter.
Chip removal: Lift the blade out of the cut every few seconds so the chips can get out and the blade can cool. Clear chips from between the cooling slots.
Breakthrough: Ease off the feed just before breaking through so the back face of the board does not tear. For a clean hole on both sides, drill the pilot drill through first, turn the workpiece over and saw the hole from each side.
Removing the plug: Lever it out through the side openings of the blade with a screwdriver or push it out from behind. Do not try to remove the plug with your fingers while the blade is in the machine.
Maintenance: Let the blade cool after use, clean off the chips and store it in its own place in the case. Use cutting fluid or oil when cutting metal.
Warnings:
- Wear safety glasses: chips and broken teeth fly out of the cut.
- Clamp the workpiece. If the blade jams, the machine twists violently and a hand-held workpiece is thrown.
- Hold the drill with both hands and use the auxiliary handle with large blades; the kickback is strong.
- The blade and the plug get hot: risk of burns straight after cutting. Wear protective gloves, but no loose gloves near the rotating blade.
- Do not wear loose clothing, jewellery or long loose hair; the rotating blade catches them.
- Make sure there are no electrical cables, pipes or load-bearing structures behind the drilling point.
- Disconnect the machine from the power supply or remove the battery before changing the blade.
- The bi-metal blades are intended for wood, board, plastic and light metal; hardened steel and stone break the teeth.
- Keep the case out of the reach of children; the teeth are sharp.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What sizes does the Procat 15-piece hole saw set include? Eleven blades: 22, 29, 35, 38, 44, 51, 64, 76, 92, 105 and 114 mm.
What materials can the bi-metal blades cut? Wood, plywood and board materials, plastic, aluminium and other soft materials.
What are the cooling slots for? They let chips and heat out of the cut, so the blade does not expand and the hole diameter stays accurate.
What does the pilot drill do? It sets the centre point of the hole and holds the blade in place until the teeth have sunk into the material.
Why does the set have two arbors? Small and large blades fit arbors of different sizes; the right arbor guarantees support for the blade all the way round.
What speed should a hole saw be used at? At a low speed with a steady feed. The larger the blade, the lower the speed, because the peripheral speed increases with the diameter.
How is the plug removed from the blade? Lever it out through the side openings of the blade with a screwdriver or push it out from behind once the machine has stopped.
Recycling instructions:
Sort discarded blades, arbors, pilot drills, the extension bar and the hex key into metal collection. The aluminium case belongs in metal collection; remove any plastic inserts and seals and sort them into plastic collection. Cover the sharp teeth before disposal.
