Description
Yato cordless mitre saw 18V 4 Ah is a sliding mitre saw for straight and angled cuts in wood, wood-based boards, laminates and plastics. The set includes a 4 Ah Li-Ion battery and a fast charger (charging time about 2 h), so the saw is ready to use right after charging. The blade diameter is 185 mm, the bore 30 mm and the speed 3600 min⁻¹.
The saw head moves on ball-bearing slide rails, so straight cuts are possible in workpieces up to 51 mm high and 203 mm wide. The saw head can be turned horizontally by ±45° and tilted by up to 45°. The mitre scale has detents at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 31.6° and 45°.
For angled cuts, the capacity is 51 x 152 mm (mitre 45°), 35 x 203 mm (bevel 45°) and 35 x 152 mm (mitre and bevel 45°). There are three cutting methods: chop cutting by lowering the saw head, slide cutting with the saw head lowered and locked, and plunge cutting, where the head is lowered to a depth set with the stop and moved horizontally.
A red class 2 laser pointer (650 nm, less than 1 mW) shows the cutting line on the workpiece and is switched on with a separate switch. The supplied dust bag or a vacuum cleaner hose is connected to the dust extraction port. The saw weighs 9 kg, and the carrying handle in the middle of the body balances it when moving. The sound power level is 96.14 dB(A), so hearing protection is necessary.
Uses and suitability:
The mitre saw is designed for precise cross and angle cuts in wood and wood-based materials when the workpiece can be clamped to the saw table.
- Skirting boards and ceiling mouldings: Mitre cutting skirting boards, ceiling mouldings and PVC mouldings for inside and outside corners; the 22.5° and 31.6° detents speed up cutting for multi-angle corners.
- Floors and panels: Cutting laminate, parquet and panel boards up to 203 mm wide; for laminated boards the manufacturer recommends a 48-tooth blade.
- Battens and square timber: Cutting battens, square timber and furring strips to length up to 51 mm high; support long pieces with table extensions or trestles.
- Eaves and cladding: Bevel cuts on eaves boards, exterior cladding boards and architraves with a combined mitre and bevel angle.
- Electrical installations: Straight and angled cutting of plastic cable ducts and trunking.
The saw uses the same batteries as other Yato 18 V tools, for example the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery, which is charged with the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. The same system also includes the Yato cordless reciprocating saw set 18V 4.0 Ah Li-Ion battery. The Yato cordless mitre saw 18V 4 Ah suits users who do not yet have a Yato 18 V battery; the body alone without battery and charger is model YT-82817.

Yato cordless mitre saw 18V 4 Ah user manual:
Charging the battery: The battery is supplied uncharged. Clean the battery contacts with a dry cloth, insert the battery into the charger and plug the charger into a socket; the red LED is lit while charging and the green LED comes on when the battery is full. Charge only in a dry indoor space under adult supervision.
Getting started: Place the saw on a level, stable surface, such as a workbench, and fix it through the holes in the base if necessary. Screw the table locking screw into the hole in the arm without tightening it fully. Release the transport lock by pulling out the locking pin and let the spring raise the saw head while holding the handle lightly.
Setting the angles: Remove the battery. Mitre angle: open the locking screw, lift the locking lever, turn the table to the angle and always tighten the locking screw; the lever alone is not enough. Bevel angle: open the lever, tilt the saw head according to the scale and tighten the lever. Move the blade through the full cutting stroke without the battery and check that the blade does not touch the table or fence.
Workpiece clamping: Place the workpiece on the table against the fence and secure it with the clamp. Support pieces longer than the table with extensions or trestles. Cut one piece at a time.
Cutting: Insert the battery, press the switch safety lock and the switch, and let the blade reach full speed before it touches the workpiece. Lower the saw head evenly with light pressure; for slide cutting, first pull the head over the workpiece without cutting and then push the saw through the workpiece. Finally, lift the rotating blade out of the kerf, release the switch and wait for the blade to stop.
Changing the blade: Remove the battery and wear protective gloves. Press the spindle lock, undo the blade fixing screw with the wrench, and remove the clamping flange and the blade. Fit the new blade according to the direction-of-rotation arrow and tighten the screw while pressing the spindle lock.
Transport and maintenance: Lock the saw head in the lower position with the pin and carry the saw by the base, not by the saw head. Empty the dust bag whenever it is full and after work. Clean the housing, ventilation openings and guards with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals.
Warnings:
- Read the user manual before use. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, a respirator and gloves when handling the blade.
- Keep your hands at least 100 mm from the blade; do not reach across the cutting line or behind the fence while the blade is rotating.
- Do not cut workpieces freehand; clamp the workpiece against the fence and the table.
- Do not use grinding discs or cut metal; the saw is designed for wood and wood-like materials.
- Class 2 laser pointer: do not look into the beam or point it at other people’s eyes.
- Remove the battery before changing the blade, making adjustments, transport and maintenance. A jammed blade may only be freed when the saw has stopped and the battery has been removed.
- Use only blades to EN 847-1 with a permitted speed of at least 3600 min⁻¹; do not use cracked or damaged blades.
- Not for use by children. IP rating IPX0: do not use in rain or damp rooms.

Recycling instructions:
Recycle the cardboard packaging and paper user manual as cardboard and paper, and plastic packaging parts as plastic. The Yato cordless mitre saw 18V 4 Ah is an electrical appliance: at the end of its life, take the saw to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), not to mixed waste. Return the supplied Li-Ion battery to a battery collection point or to the retailer; tape the battery terminals before transport and do not transport a damaged battery.
