Description
Yato cordless angle grinder 3 speeds 2×4 Ah is an 18 V brushless angle grinder for 125 mm discs with three-stage electronic speed control 5000 / 7000 / 9000 min⁻¹. The set includes two 4.0 Ah Li-Ion batteries, a fast charger and a carrying bag, so one battery can charge while the other is in use.
The grinder is designed for grinding and cutting metal and mineral building materials, such as brick, natural and artificial stone, concrete and tiles, with discs suited to the material. The spindle thread is M14 and the disc bore 22.2 mm, so the grinder takes standard 125 mm cutting, grinding and flap discs, diamond discs and M14-threaded wire brushes.
The brushless motor works without wearing carbon brushes, which reduces the number of wearing parts and motor heating. Soft start accelerates the disc evenly and reduces the start-up jolt and the strain on the gearbox. The speed stage is selected with the grinder’s speed selector: the lower speeds suit wire brushes and sanding discs, the highest speed grinding and cutting discs.
The device weighs 1.5 kg. The switch is a paddle switch under the handle that can be locked on for extended work. The auxiliary handle can be fitted on either side of the grinder, and the disc guard is adjusted to suit the work. The grinder has insulation class III and IP rating IPX0, so it must not be used in rain or wet conditions.
Uses and suitability:
The angle grinder is suitable for cutting and grinding metal and working stone materials on battery power without mains electricity. Suitable discs and accessories, such as the Yato cutting disc for metal and Yato flap disc 125 mm, are chosen according to the material being worked.
- Cutting steel and metal parts: Cutting profiles, pipes, threaded rods and sheets with a cutting disc at the highest speed stage of 9000 min⁻¹; cut in a straight line with the disc perpendicular to the surface.
- Grinding metal surfaces: Grinding welds, edges and burrs with a grinding disc or flap disc; when grinding with the side, hold the grinder at an angle of no more than 30° to the surface.
- Removing rust and paint: Wire brushes and sanding discs at the lower speed stages of 5000 or 7000 min⁻¹, which puts less strain on the brush wires and sandpaper.
- Renovation, installation and construction work: Cutting and grinding brick, stone, concrete and tiles with discs for stone or diamond discs for dry use.
- Working without mains power: With two 4.0 Ah batteries, work can continue by swapping the battery while the other charges in about 2 hours. The same batteries can be used in other tools in the Yato 18V system; a suitable extra charger is, for example, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A.

Yato cordless angle grinder 3 speeds 2×4 Ah user manual:
Carry out all assembly and adjustment with the battery removed. Read the entire user manual before first use.
- Charging the batteries: The batteries are supplied uncharged. Place the battery in the charger and plug the charger into a socket; the indicator light shows the charging status. Charge only in an enclosed, dry space under supervision and unplug the charger when charging is complete.
- Guard and auxiliary handle: Place the disc guard around the spindle and tighten it so that the unprotected part of the disc faces away from your hands. Screw the auxiliary handle firmly into the left or right side of the grinder.
- Fitting the disc: Place the upper flange on the spindle, the disc on the flange and screw the lower flange onto the spindle. Press the spindle lock and tighten the lower flange with the wrench. An M14-threaded disc or brush is screwed directly onto the spindle without flanges.
- Test run: Insert the battery, start the grinder and let it run without load for about 1 minute. Remove the battery and check the disc mounting.
- Selecting the speed: Select the speed stage with the speed selector with the battery in place: 5000 or 7000 min⁻¹ for brushes and sandpaper, 9000 min⁻¹ for grinding and cutting discs.
- Working: Secure the workpiece in a vice or clamp. Hold the grinder with both hands. Grind with the side of the disc at an angle of no more than 30° with even back-and-forth movements; cut in a straight line with the disc perpendicular to the surface and guide the grinder in the direction of disc rotation.
- Finishing work: Release the switch and let the disc stop completely before putting the grinder down. Remove the battery and let the disc cool before inspecting it.
- Maintenance: Clean the body, ventilation openings, switches, auxiliary handle and guard with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Do not dismantle the grinder during the warranty period; faults are repaired by an authorised service centre.
- Battery storage: Store the batteries at 0–30 °C charged to about 70%, and charge them about once a year during long-term storage.
Warnings:
- Protective equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection and protective gloves; a respirator and face shield if necessary.
- Guard always in place: Never use the grinder without the disc guard fitted.
- Disc speed rating: Use only discs with a permitted peripheral speed of at least 80 m/s and a permitted rotational speed of at least 9000 min⁻¹.
- Kickback: A jamming disc can throw the grinder towards the user. Do not cut along a curved line, do not tilt the disc in the cut and do not restart a cut inside the material.
- Prohibited blades: Do not use chainsaw chain blades, circular saw blades or segmented diamond discs with a segment gap of more than 10 mm.
- No liquid cooling: Do not use accessories that require water or coolant, and do not polish with the grinder.
- Sparks: Do not work near flammable materials or in potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Hidden wiring: When plunge cutting into walls, the disc may hit electrical wiring or gas pipes; hold the grinder by its insulated gripping surfaces.
- Run-on and heat: The disc keeps rotating after switching off, and the disc and the workpiece may be hot.
- Batteries and charger: Use only Yato 18V batteries and the charger in the set. Do not use a damaged charger or battery, do not short-circuit the battery terminals and do not leave charging unattended. If the charger gives off smoke or a smell, unplug it immediately.
