Description
Yato cordless rotary hammer 2.8 J, body only (YT-827726) is an SDS-plus rotary hammer with a brushless motor, supplied without a battery and charger. The single impact energy is 2.8 J, a speed of 0–950 min⁻¹ and the impact rate 0–4700 min⁻¹. The rotary hammer drills up to 26 mm in concrete, 30 mm in wood and 13 mm in steel.
The rotary hammer has three operating modes: drilling without impact, hammer drilling and chiselling. The mode is selected with the rotary selector on the body by pressing the selector lock. The fourth position of the selector turns the chisel to the required angle before chiselling, so the chisel does not have to be removed from the chuck.
The speed is preselected with the adjustment knob on a scale of 1–6, and the trigger increases the speed steplessly up to the maximum of the selected setting. The direction switch selects the direction of rotation and locks the switch in the middle position. The delivery includes an auxiliary handle and a drilling depth stop.
The tool weighs 2.8 kg without the battery, the electrical insulation class is III and the IP rating IPX0. The sound pressure level is 97.6 dB(A) and vibration when drilling 18.23 m/s², so hearing protection and regular breaks are needed. The rotary hammer runs on Yato 18 V Li-Ion batteries.
Uses and suitability:
The SDS-plus rotary hammer is designed for hammer drilling and chiselling in concrete, stone, brick and marble. The impact can be switched off, so the same tool also drills wood, metal and plastic.
- Fixing holes in concrete and brick: Holes for anchors, wedge anchors and plugs in hammer drilling mode with an SDS-plus drill bit; the rotary hammer is made for drilling hard mineral materials.
- Electrical and plumbing installations: Holes for brackets, cable routes and pipe clips in walls and ceilings; check for hidden cables and pipes before drilling.
- Light chiselling and demolition: Removing tiles, mortar and render and making grooves in chiselling mode with an SDS-plus chisel.
- Drilling wood and metal: Drilling without impact in wood up to 30 mm and in steel up to 13 mm; thin sheet metal is supported on a wooden base.
Suitable for chiselling are, for example, the Yato SDS+ point chisel 14 x 250 mm and Yato SDS+ flat chisel 20 x 250 mm. A suitable battery is, for example, the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and for charging, the Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. The same rotary hammer with two 4 Ah batteries and a charger is the Yato SDS+ cordless rotary hammer set 18V 2.8J BL 2 x 4.0 Ah Li-Ion.

User instructions for the Yato cordless rotary hammer 2.8 J, body only:
Battery: The rotary hammer is supplied without a battery. Use a Yato 18 V Li-Ion battery (YT-828461…YT-828465) and charge it with a Yato 18 V charger. Slide the battery into the battery slot until the latch locks.
Fitting the bit: Remove the battery. Clean the bit shank and lubricate it with a thin layer of general-purpose grease. Pull the chuck sleeve back, push the bit into the chuck and turn it until it locks. Release the sleeve and pull to check that the bit is locked.
Operating mode and speed: Press the selector lock and turn the selector to the drill bit symbol (drilling), the drill bit and hammer symbol (hammer drilling) or the hammer symbol (chiselling). The chisel angle is set with the hammer and arrow symbol by pressing the trigger until the chisel is in the required position. Select the speed with the adjustment knob 1–6.
Drilling: First check that there are no hidden electrical cables, gas or water pipes at the drilling point. Select the direction of rotation only when the machine has stopped. Hold the rotary hammer with both hands by the main handle and the auxiliary handle. Start at low speed, press evenly in line with the bit and pull the bit out from time to time to remove dust. When drilling large holes, first drill a smaller pilot hole.
Drilling depth: Fit the depth stop in the auxiliary handle holder and set it to the required depth.
Maintenance: Remove the battery and clean the body, ventilation openings and switches with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth. The temperature of the outer surfaces must not exceed 60 °C; take breaks. Store the tool and battery in a dry place out of the reach of children.
Warnings:
- Read the user manual before use. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and protective gloves.
- Remove the battery before changing the bit, selecting the mode, making adjustments and maintenance.
- Check walls and floors for hidden electrical cables, gas and water pipes; hold the tool by the insulated gripping surfaces.
- Always use the auxiliary handle and keep a firm stance, as a jamming bit causes a strong reaction torque.
- Change the operating mode and direction of rotation only when the machine has stopped.
- Do not use the rotary hammer to power attachments.
- Charge batteries only with a Yato 18 V charger in a dry place under adult supervision; do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
- Not for use by children. Not for rain or damp rooms.
