Description
Yato cordless caulking gun 18V is a cordless caulking and adhesive gun that uses motor power to dispense cartridges 48 mm in diameter and up to 255 mm long, with a volume of 300 ml . The body-only version YT-82889 is supplied without a battery or charger, so it suits users who already have a battery from the Yato 18 V battery system.
The steel plunger has a pressing force of 2000 N, and the plunger speed is adjusted steplessly with a rotary dial between 0.5–8 mm/s (30–480 mm/min). The speed is matched to the flowability of the compound: low speed for silicone and acrylic, higher speed for stiff construction adhesives and chemical anchors.
When the operating switch is released, the plunger stops and retracts slightly. This releases the pressure on the cartridge piston and prevents the compound from dripping from the nozzle. An end-position sensor stops the plunger automatically when the cartridge is empty, so the mechanism is not overloaded.
Without the battery, the gun weighs 1.3 kg. The body and cartridge holder are made of metal. The operating voltage is 18 V DC, protection class III and IP rating IPX0, so the unit is intended for dry conditions. The sound pressure level is 81 dB(A) and the vibration value 1.76 m/s².
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless caulking gun 18V is intended for applying cartridge compounds in construction, installation and maintenance work where there is a lot of sealing or the compound is stiff.
- Sealing and caulking: Applying silicones, acrylic sealants, MS polymers and sealing compounds to window, door, bathroom and facade joints with an even, adjustable feed.
- Construction adhesives: Dispensing stiff installation and construction adhesives onto mouldings, panels and boards; the 2000 N pressing force is enough even for feeding cold, thick adhesive.
- Chemical anchors: Dispensing 300 ml chemical anchor compounds into drill holes in fixing and concrete work where the force of a manual gun is not enough.
- Vehicle and industrial maintenance: Applying adhesive and sealing compounds in workshops and production, where repeated manual squeezing strains the wrist.
The gun belongs to the Yato 18 V battery system, whose batteries and chargers also fit other tools in the range, such as the Yato cordless grease gun 18V 620 bar body only. Suitable batteries and chargers are the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A. The same gun with a battery and charger is available as a set under code YT-82888.
Package contents:
- Yato cordless caulking gun 18 V (body only, YT-82889)
- Instruction manual
Battery and charger are not included.
Features:
- Variable speed control: The rotary dial sets the plunger speed at 0.5–8 mm/s, so the feed suits both fluid and stiff compounds.
- Automatic plunger retraction: Releasing the switch pulls the plunger back and prevents the compound from dripping and smearing surfaces.
- End-position sensor: Stops the plunger when the cartridge empties, which protects the mechanism from overload.
- Plunger release button: The plunger is pulled back by hand and pushed against the cartridge piston without tools.
- Metal cartridge holder and steel plunger: Withstand a pressing force of 2000 N even with stiff compounds.
- Standard cartridge size: Fits standard cartridges with a diameter of 48 mm and a length of up to 255 mm (300 ml).
- Yato 18 V battery system: The same battery fits the other tools in the range; spare batteries 2 Ah, 3 Ah, 4 Ah and 6 Ah.
- Cordless battery version: Working on ladders, scaffolds and in tight spots without mains power.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless caulking gun 18V:
Fitting the cartridge: Remove the battery. Open the cartridge nozzle according to the manufacturer’s instructions before fitting; a closed cartridge can damage the gun or force compound out on the piston side. Press the plunger release button and pull the plunger back by hand. Place the cartridge first in the front of the holder and then press the rear into the holder. With the release button pressed, push the plunger against the cartridge piston.
Use: Check that the operating switch is not pressed, and attach the battery. Grip the gun with both hands, aim the nozzle at the joint and press the switch. Find the right plunger speed with the rotary dial by trial; keep the nozzle close to the surface and move it with an even motion. Releasing the switch stops the feed and pulls the plunger back slightly.
Blockage: If no compound comes out and the gun runs heavily or vibrates, release the switch immediately, remove the battery and check the nozzle opening and any hardened compound.
Maintenance: Remove the battery before cleaning. Remove compound that has got into the gun before it hardens, without solvents, acids or abrasives. Clean the housing, ventilation openings and switches with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth. The unit must not be dismantled during the warranty period.
Battery: Store the Li-Ion battery at 0–30 °C at about 70% charge; charge it once a year during long-term storage. Do not short-circuit the terminals. Use only Yato 18 V system chargers.
Warnings:
- Read the instruction manual and the safety data sheet of the compound being applied before starting work; wear the personal protective equipment the compound requires.
- Never point the cartridge nozzle at people or animals or place it on the skin: the compound is forced out with great force and can penetrate under the skin.
- Do not put your fingers between the plunger and the cartridge holder; the 2000 N pressing force can cause serious injury.
- Always remove the battery before changing the cartridge, making adjustments and cleaning.
- Use only cartridges whose dimensions match the technical data; do not modify the gun for other cartridges.
- Wear safety glasses and ear defenders; do not use the gun in rain or wet conditions (IPX0).
- A damaged battery must not be used or transported; protect the battery terminals during transport.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is a battery or charger included with the Yato cordless caulking gun 18V body? No. YT-82889 is the body-only version without a battery or charger; the set with a battery and charger is YT-82888.
Which cartridges fit the gun? Standard cartridges with a diameter of 48 mm, a length of up to 255 mm and a volume of 300 ml (silicones, acrylics, construction adhesives, chemical anchors).
Can the gun dispense stiff construction adhesive in the cold? The plunger’s pressing force is 2000 N, which is enough for stiff compounds; reduce the speed with the rotary dial to keep the feed even.
Why does compound drip from the nozzle after the switch is released? The plunger retracts slightly automatically, but the inertia of the fluid compound can bring a small amount out. This is normal.
Which Yato 18 V batteries can be used in the gun? All Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries (2 Ah, 3 Ah, 4 Ah and 6 Ah).
Recycling instructions:
The Yato cordless caulking gun 18V is an electrical device that must not be disposed of with mixed waste. Take a discarded unit to a waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) collection point. Take Li-Ion batteries to a battery collection point with the terminals taped; damaged batteries must not be transported. Sort the cardboard packaging into cardboard collection and empty compound cartridges according to the compound manufacturer’s instructions.
