Description
Yato cordless impact driver 18V body (YT-82799) is an impact driver with a brushless motor, supplied without a battery or charger. The maximum torque is 230 Nm and the impact rate 3000 min⁻¹. The driver runs on Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries, so it is intended for users who already have a battery and charger from the system.
The body is only 90 mmlong, so the driver fits into tight spots and the screw can be pressed straight into the material. The bit holder is a 1/4″ (6.3 mm) hex fittingthat takes grooved impact bits and socket adapters. The tangential impact mechanism prevents the bit from slipping out of the screw head.
The control panel is used to select four speed levels (0–1200 / 0–1900 / 0–2500 / 0–3200 min⁻¹) as well as screwdriving modes for wood, thin sheet metal and thick sheet metal. When rotating anticlockwise, a pulsed removal modeis available, which loosens a tight screw or nut with short turns and protects the bolt from breaking.
The driver has a spindle brake, a reversing switch, an LED work light, a battery charge indicator and thermal protection. The tool weighs 1.0 kg, with insulation class III and the IP rating IPX0. The sound pressure level is 99 dB(A) and the vibration 12.9 m/s², so hearing protection and breaks are necessary.
Uses and suitability:
The impact driver is designed for driving and removing screws, bolts and nuts with 1/4″ hex impact bits and socket adapters. The impact mechanism produces many times the torque of an ordinary cordless drill without twisting the wrist.
- Timber construction: Driving long wood screws, decking screws and structural screws in wood screwing mode; 230 Nm is enough for large structural screws.
- Sheet metal and metalwork: Driving self-drilling sheet metal screws in the thin and thick sheet metal modes, which limit the speed and prevent the thread from stripping.
- Furniture and plasterboard installation: The short 90 mm body fits between cabinets and studs; the lowest speed level suits small screws.
- Bolted joints: Tightening and loosening nuts and bolts with a socket adapter; the pulsed removal mode opens seized joints in a controlled way.
The driver needs a Yato 18 V battery and charger, for example the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and Yato battery charger 18V 2.4-4.5A smart fast charger. The same system also includes the Yato cordless impact wrench 18V 850Nm, body only and impact bits, such as the Yato impact bit set 37-piece. The Yato cordless impact driver 18V body is the same driver as in the set YT-82798 with a battery, charger and case.
Package contents:
- Yato cordless impact driver 18 V, brushless (body only, no battery or charger)
- Instruction manual
Features:
- Brushless motor: Better efficiency and longer service life than a brushed motor; no carbon brushes to replace.
- 230 Nm torque: Maximum tightening torque 230 Nm, impact rate 3000 min⁻¹.
- Short body 90 mm: Fits into tight gaps; the screw is pressed straight into the material.
- 4 speed levels: 0–1200 / 0–1900 / 0–2500 / 0–3200 min⁻¹, selected on the control panel.
- Screwdriving modes: Wood, thin sheet metal and thick sheet metal; they limit the speed and protect the screw from overtightening.
- Pulsed removal mode: Short anticlockwise turns for loosening tight screws and nuts.
- 1/4″ hex bit holder: 6.3 mm hex fitting for impact bits and adapters.
- Spindle brake and tangential impact: The spindle stops when the trigger is released; the impact prevents the bit from slipping.
- Electronic speed control: How far the trigger is pressed adjusts the speed within the selected level.
- LED work light and charge indicator: Illuminates the screwing point; the indicator shows the battery charge.
- Thermal protection: Protects the motor from overload.
- Yato 18 V system: Compatible with batteries YT-828461…YT-828465 and chargers YT-828498…YT-828504.

Yato cordless impact driver 18V body user manual:
Fitting the battery: Push a charged Yato 18 V battery into the battery slot until the latch locks. Remove the battery by pressing the latch and pulling the battery out. Charge the battery only with a Yato 18 V charger.
Fitting the bit: Remove the battery. Pull the chuck ring forward, insert a grooved 1/4″ impact bit into the chuck and release the ring. Pull the bit to make sure it is locked. Drill bits are not used because of the impact mechanism.
Screwdriving: Select the direction of rotation with the reversing switch and the speed level or screwdriving mode on the control panel. Place the bit in the screw head before starting and hold the driver firmly. Start at low speed and increase the speed by pressing the trigger further. When the impact mechanism starts hammering, the joint is tight; release the trigger.
Removal: Set the direction of rotation to anticlockwise and, if necessary, select the pulsed mode, in which each press of the trigger turns the spindle briefly. For threaded joints, make the first turns by hand.
Maintenance: Remove the battery and clean the housing, ventilation openings and switches with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth.
Warnings:
- Read the user manual before use. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and protective gloves.
- Remove the battery before changing the bit, making adjustments and maintenance.
- Hold the driver by its insulated gripping surfaces: the bit may hit hidden electrical wiring.
- Use only bits designed for impact use; ordinary bits and drill bits can break.
- Do not continue tightening once the impacts start; fasteners and threads can break.
- The body surface must not exceed 60 °C. Take breaks because of vibration exposure.
- Use only Yato 18 V system batteries; do not modify the battery slot or the battery.
- Not for use by children. Not water-protected (IPX0); not for use in rain.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ):
Is a battery included with the Yato cordless impact driver 18V body? No. The body-only model requires a separate Yato 18 V Li-Ion battery and charger; the set with a battery, charger and case is model YT-82798.
Which batteries fit the driver? Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries YT-828461…YT-828465, charged with chargers YT-828498…YT-828504.
Which bits does the driver use? Grooved 1/4″ (6.3 mm) hex impact bits and socket adapters.
Can the driver be used for drilling? No. The impact mechanism can break a drill bit; use a cordless drill for drilling.
What do the screwdriving modes mean? The modes for wood, thin sheet metal and thick sheet metal limit the speed according to the screw type; the pulsed mode is designed for anticlockwise removal.
Recycling instructions:
Recycle the cardboard packaging and paper user manual as cardboard and paper. The Yato cordless impact driver 18V body is an electrical appliance: at the end of its life, take it to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), not to mixed waste. Return the Li-Ion battery used with the driver to a battery collection point or to the retailer; tape the contacts before transport.
