Description
Yato cordless circular saw 18V 140 mm 2×4 Ah is a cordless circular saw with a brushless (BL) motor and a 140 mm saw blade. The saw is designed for straight cuts in solid wood, plywood, chipboard, MDF and OSB. The set includes two 18 V 4 Ah Li-Ion batteries and a charger, so the saw is ready to use after the first charge.
The rated motor speed is 6150 min⁻¹. The maximum cutting depth is 51 mm at a right angle and 32 mm at 45°, so 50 mm thick timber is cut in a single pass. The bevel angle is adjusted steplessly between 0–45° on the front scale, and the cutting depth is locked with the graduated guide at the rear.
The outer diameter of the saw blade is 140 mm, the bore 20 mm and the maximum thickness 1.1 mm; the blade in the picture has 24 teeth. The graduated guide attached to the base plate keeps the cutting line straight when ripping. The movable lower guard covers the blade automatically, and the switch lock prevents accidental starting.
The operating voltage is 18 V DC, protection class III and IP rating IPX0, so the saw is intended for dry conditions. The saw weighs 1.9 kg without the battery. The sound power level is 102.0 ± 3.0 dB(A) and vibration 1.2 ± 1.5 m/s², so hearing protection is always needed.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless circular saw 18V 140 mm 2×4 Ah is designed for straight cross cuts and rip cuts in wood and wood-based panels.
- Construction and carpentry: Cutting framing timber, battens and roof laths to a depth of 51 mm and bevels at 45° on site without mains power.
- Panel work: Cutting plywood, OSB, chipboard and MDF panels in a straight line using the graduated guide; for thin panels under 1 cm, choose a fine-tooth blade.
- Joinery and interior work: Cutting mouldings, shelf boards and frames to size when the light 1.9 kg saw is easier to take to the job than a table saw.
- Renovation and garden construction: Cutting decking boards, fence boards and plywood sheets outdoors in dry weather.
The saw also takes other Yato 18 V batteries, such as the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery. If you need a larger 165 mm blade and a 54 mm cutting depth, choose the Yato cordless circular saw 18V 165 mm, body only. Without the batteries and charger, the same saw is model YT-828118.

Yato cordless circular saw 18V 140 mm 2×4 Ah user instructions:
Charging the battery: The batteries are supplied uncharged. Slide the battery into the charger and plug the charger into a socket; a flashing green light means charging and a steady green light means a full battery. The 4 Ah battery charges in about 2 hours. Charge only indoors in a dry place under adult supervision.
Fitting the battery: Slide the battery into the battery slot contacts first until the latch locks. Remove the battery by pressing the latch and sliding the battery out.
Fitting the blade: Remove the battery. Lock the spindle, undo the blade screw with the key and remove the outer flange and the old blade. Clean the spindle, flanges and the inside of the guard, fit the new blade so that the direction arrows on the blade and guard point the same way, and tighten the screw. Do not remove the guards when changing the blade.
Adjustments: Release the lock of the graduated guide at the rear, set the cutting depth so that the blade protrudes below the workpiece by less than one tooth height, and lock the screw. Set the bevel angle on the front scale and tighten the locking screw. If needed, attach the parallel guide to the base plate and lock the cutting width.
Cutting: Clamp the workpiece and support large panels on both sides of the cutting line. Place the base plate on the workpiece so that the blade does not touch it, press the switch lock and then the switch, let the blade reach full speed and guide the saw steadily with both hands. If the blade jams, release the switch and hold the saw still until the blade has stopped.
Maintenance: Remove the battery before maintenance. Check the lower guard spring and free movement before each use. Clean the body, ventilation openings and guards with compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa), a brush or a dry cloth without chemicals. Store the batteries at 0–30 °C at about 70% charge and charge them at least once a year.
Warnings:
- Read the user manual before use. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, work gloves and a respirator.
- Do not use the saw without the blade guards and do not lock the movable lower guard in the open position.
- Risk of kickback: hold the saw with both hands, stand to the side of the cutting line and do not pull the saw backwards while the blade is rotating.
- Keep your hands away from the cutting area and do not reach under the workpiece. Do not hold the workpiece in your hand or against your leg.
- Cut only in a straight line; cutting curves is prohibited. Use only 140 × 20 mm blades with a maximum thickness of 1.1 mm; no grinding discs or HSS blades.
- Always remove the battery before changing the blade, making adjustments and maintenance. The blade keeps rotating for a moment after switching off.
- Charge the battery only with a Yato 18 V charger in a dry place. Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or use a damaged battery.
- Not for use by children. IP rating IPX0: not for rain or damp rooms.
