Yato cordless mortar mixer 18V BL is a two-speed, two-handed cordless mixer for mixing mortars, paints, adhesives, fillers and other fluid or semi-fluid building materials. The body-only version YT-82877 is supplied without a battery or charger and runs on Yato 18 V system Li-Ion batteries.
The gearbox has two speed ranges: 1st gear 0–450 min⁻¹ and 2nd gear 0–720 min⁻¹. The speed range is selected with the switch on the front of the machine, and the numbered dial on the handle sets the spindle speed steplessly within the selected range. The soft start protects the gearbox and reduces splashing of the mix.
The mixing paddle is attached to the spindle with an M14 thread, and the paddle basket diameter may be up to 120 mm. A two-part universal mixing paddle is supplied, whose shaft is screwed into the basket and tightened with spanners. The spindle turns clockwise; the paddle is chosen according to whether air should be mixed into the mix or removed from it.
The unit has a brushless motor, whose power according to the manufacturer’s declaration of conformity is 1850 W. The tool weighs 4.4 kg without the battery. The operating switch lock prevents accidental starting of the spindle. The sound pressure level is 83 dB(A), the vibration value 5.02 m/s² and the operating temperature -10…+40 °C.
Uses and suitability:
The Yato cordless mortar mixer 18V BL is intended for mixing fluid building materials in a container in places where mains power is not available or a cable would get in the way.
- Mortars and fillers: Mixing masonry, plastering and tile mortars and fillers in a bucket or tub; 1st gear 0–450 min⁻¹ gives torque for thick mixes.
- Adhesives: Mixing tile and construction adhesives smooth before application; the soft start reduces splashes on the edges of the container.
- Paints and coatings: Mixing paints, primers and waterproofing compounds; the speed is chosen according to the mix manufacturer’s instructions.
- Sites without mains power: Renovation and new-build sites, where battery operation removes the risk of tripping and tangling with an extension cable around the mixing container.
The mixer belongs to the Yato 18 V battery system. Suitable power sources are the Yato 18V Li-Ion battery and Yato battery charger 18V 2.2A. For lighter mixing with one speed range, use the Yato cordless mortar mixer 18V, body only.

Instructions for using the Yato cordless mortar mixer 18V BL:
Fitting the mixing paddle: Remove the battery. Screw the shaft into the paddle basket and tighten the joint firmly with the spanners. Screw the assembled paddle onto the spindle and tighten the joint with the spanners. Use only M14 mixing paddles with a basket diameter of up to 120 mm; do not use adapters.
Selecting the speed: Select the speed range with the switch on the front and set the speed with the dial on the handle; a higher number means a higher speed. Follow the mix manufacturer’s instructions. As a general rule, thin mixes are mixed at a lower speed than thick ones.
Starting: Make sure the operating switch is off, and slide the battery into place along the guides until the latch locks. Place the mixing paddle in the container so that it does not touch anything, and hold both handles. Press the lock-off button with your thumb and then the operating switch with your index finger; once the spindle is turning, you do not need to hold the lock-off button. Check the fixing of a new or replaced mixing paddle by letting the machine run for 30 seconds without load.
Stopping: Release the operating switch and keep the mixing paddle in the container until the spindle has stopped completely. Remove the battery before maintenance.
Maintenance: Clean the mixing paddle straight after use with a solvent suitable for the mix, rinse with water and dry. Clean the housing and ventilation openings with a soft brush, a dry cloth or compressed air (max. 0.3 MPa) without chemicals. During the warranty period, the unit must not be dismantled and no parts may be added to it.
Warnings:
- Hold the mixer with both hands by the handles intended for this; loss of control can cause injury.
- Do not reach into the mixing container with your hands or put objects into it during mixing. Start and stop the mixer only in the container.
- Make sure the mixing container is stable and supported. Keep hair, loose clothing and jewellery away from the rotating mixing paddle.
- Wear safety glasses and ear defenders (LpA 83 dB(A)) and, if needed, respiratory protection, gloves and an apron; follow the safety data sheet of the material being mixed.
- When mixing flammable materials, ensure adequate ventilation; sparks from the tool can ignite vapours.
- Do not mix food or loose bulk materials, and do not attach grinding, polishing or drilling accessories to the spindle.
- Prevent liquid from splashing into the housing. If the machine falls into the mix, remove the battery immediately and have the machine checked at a service centre.
- Do not use a damaged, cracked or bent mixing paddle. The mixing paddle keeps turning for a moment after switching off.
- Do not use or charge a damaged battery; protect the battery terminals from short circuits and heat above 130 °C.
