German engineering since 1979

ARTU Werkzeuge GmbH was founded in Dortmund with the aim of developing drill bits that withstand extreme heat and wear. The company's flagship product, the multi-purpose drill bit (Universal Drill Bit), revolutionised the market with its ability to drill almost any material without changing bits. This is possible thanks to a unique brazed joint between special steel and a tungsten carbide tip that withstands over 1,000°C.

Today ARTU is synonymous with problem-solving on construction sites and in industry. Whether it is an extra-hard porcelain tile or a cast-iron pipe, ARTU's patented cutting and drilling solutions give professionals the tools to finish the job when conventional HSS or masonry bits fail.

Key product groups

Multi-purpose drill bits (Profi-Line)

The legendary universal drill bit that replaces several specialist bits. It drills hardened steel, concrete, granite and wood with the same bit.

  • Tip: Tungsten carbide
  • Heat resistance: Over 1,000°C
  • Suitable for: Hammer and rotary drilling
  • Sizes: 3 mm – 25 mm

PORC+ tile drill bits

Designed specifically for the hardest porcelain and ceramic tiles (up to hardness class 9). Drills cleanly without cracking.

  • Tip: Specially ground cutting edges
  • Use: With a cordless drill (no hammer)
  • Feature: Self-centring tip
  • Cooling: Water optional

Carbide saw blades

Jigsaw blades with carbide grit. They cut materials that blunt toothed blades immediately.

  • Material: Tungsten Carbide Grit
  • Use: Cast iron, fibreglass, ceramics
  • Life: Up to 10x longer service life
  • Fit: Standard jigsaw blade holder

Why choose Artu?

  • Extreme durabilityThe cobalt-tungsten carbide alloy of ARTU bits withstands temperatures of up to 1,100°C without losing its hardness.
  • Versatility saves timeOne bit for several materials means fewer bit changes and faster work on installation sites.
  • A solution for problem jobsWhen standard bits burn out drilling hardened steel or stone, ARTU gets the job done.
  • Certified qualityMade in Germany under strict ISO standards and quality control.

Frequently asked questions

How do I drill hardened steel with an ARTU bit?

When drilling hardened steel, you must use a high speed (approx. 2,000 rpm) and enough pressure for the bit to 'eat' into the material through friction. Do not use hammer action on metal. It is normal for the drilling point to get hot.

Can ARTU Universal bits be sharpened?

Yes. Because the bit is hard carbide throughout, it can be sharpened with a silicon carbide grinding wheel (green stone). Sharpening extends the bit's service life considerably.

When do I use the hammer function?

ARTU Universal bits are suitable for hammer drilling in masonry (concrete, granite, brick). When drilling metals, glass or ceramic tiles, the hammer function must be switched off.

Is water needed when drilling glass?

Although the bit withstands heat, glass is sensitive to thermal shock. We recommend using water or turpentine for cooling when drilling glass to get the best result.

Who imports Artu drill bits into Finland?

Toolcat Oy is the importer and distributor of Artu products in Finland. We stock Artu carbide bits and diamond tools in Vantaa and deliver to resellers, online retailers and professional users throughout Finland, the Nordic countries and the Baltics.

Can Artu products be bought wholesale for resale?

Yes. We sell only to businesses. Artu is a specialist bit range that complements general-purpose drill bits where they fall short: hardened steel, glass, stone and concrete. Open a business customer account to see your contract prices in the webshop and order on invoice.
