Marking knives and scribers for dimensionally accurate woodworking

An ordinary pencil easily leaves a line on wood that is too thick and inaccurate, which often leads to loose, failed joints. When absolute millimetre accuracy is required, for example in dovetail or tenon joints, proper marking knives and scribers are a woodworker's most important aid. They sever the wood fibres cleanly and create a perfect physical guide groove for the chisel or saw.

Sharpness and control

A thin, specially sharpened scribing blade lets you mark even in tight gaps that traditional pencils cannot reach. The scribing tools in our range have been chosen to meet the standards of demanding joinery:
  • Precise blade profile: High-quality Narex marking knives, for example, such as the 3 mm wide special blades, glide tightly against a ruler or template, ensuring a perfectly straight line.
  • Clean cut: The steel grade is optimised to sink into the wood without tearing the surface, which stops the fibres from splitting at the actual working stage.
  • Ergonomic grip: A well-balanced handle guarantees a firm grip, so the mark comes out right first time without the line slipping.
Complete your workshop's measuring and marking equipment in one go from an expert wholesaler and ensure a seamless fit for your joints.
