Tradition and precision since 1950

The roots of KDS (Knife Manufacturing Cooperative) go back to 1950, when it was founded to continue the region's strong craft traditions. Over the decades KDS has grown from a local business into a global exporter whose products are valued for their functionality and longevity.

Unlike many competitors, KDS controls the entire production process, from cutting to hardening and grinding. This shows especially in its butchery tools and scissors, which stay sharp even in hard use. The brand is also known as "Europe's mincer specialist", making standardised hole plates and knives for almost every machine on the market.

Frequently asked questions

Can KDS knives go in the dishwasher?

Although many plastic-handled models are dishwasher-safe, we always recommend washing by hand to keep the blade's quality and sharpness for as long as possible.

How do I choose the right hole plate for a mincer?

First check the size of your mincer (e.g. no. 5, 8, 10/12, 22, 32). KDS makes plates to the most common standards. The hole size (mm) is chosen according to how coarse you want the mince.

Is KDS the same as Mikov?

No, although both are Czech knife makers. Mikov is best known for its folding knives, while KDS specialises in kitchen tools, scissors and industrial blades.

Who imports KDS scissors into Finland?

Toolcat Oy is the importer and distributor of KDS products in Finland. We stock KDS scissors, kitchen knives and mincer parts in Vantaa and deliver to resellers, online retailers and professional users throughout Finland, the Nordic countries and the Baltics.

Can KDS products be bought wholesale for resale?

Yes. We sell only to businesses. Mincer knives and hole plates are wear parts that food industry customers buy again and again, and the scissors range covers both the kitchen and industry. Open a business customer account to see your contract prices in the webshop and order on invoice.
