Tradition and innovation since 1886

For SCHWAN, the brand is a promise of quality. The company has kept its production in Germany to ensure that every steel trowel and brick trowel meets even the strictest standards. SCHWAN's success rests on attention to detail: handle ergonomics, blade flexibility and durable welds are what set a professional tool apart from cheap imports.

Construction professionals value SCHWAN tools for their reliability. When a tool is an extension of your hand for eight hours a day, its balance and feel have to be perfect. SCHWAN combines traditional materials such as high-quality beech with modern Soft-Grip components to provide the best possible user experience.

Why choose Schwan?

  • 100% Made in GermanyUnlike many competitors, SCHWAN upholds the German manufacturing tradition. Remscheid is a guarantee of quality that shows in the tool's finish.
  • Stainless qualitySCHWAN uses high-quality stainless steel ("Rostfrei"), which prevents rust stains from forming in render or mortar and extends the tool's life.
  • Ergonomics firstWhether you choose a traditional lacquered wooden handle, breathable cork or a grippy 2K rubber handle, SCHWAN is designed to sit well in the hand and reduce strain.
  • The professional's choiceSCHWAN tools withstand heavy use on site. The blades do not bend and the handles do not come loose, which makes them a cost-effective choice in the long run.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose a stainless steel trowel?

Ordinary carbon steel can rust and leave ugly marks in light-coloured mortar or filler. Stainless steel needs less maintenance, is easier to clean and resists chemicals better.

Which notch size for tiling?

The general rule is: the larger the tile, the larger the notch. For small tiles 6mm is enough, while large floor tiles often need a 10–12mm notch to guarantee enough adhesive mortar.

Wooden handle or rubber handle?

It is a matter of taste. A wooden handle absorbs a little moisture (sweat) and feels natural. A rubber handle (Soft-Grip) gives a better grip and is easier to wash clean of mortar.

How are SCHWAN trowels cleaned?

Clean the tools with water immediately after use, before the materials dry. Dry them thoroughly. Although the steel is stainless, good care guarantees the best service life.

Who imports Schwan tools into Finland?

Can Schwan products be bought wholesale for resale?

Yes. We sell only to businesses. Schwan is part of the core range for builders' merchants and the tiling trade, so it complements a construction tool shelf without overlapping with general tools. Open a business customer account to see your contract prices in the webshop and order on invoice.
