Mikov's roots go back to 1794, when Ignaz Rösler founded the first knife factory in Mikulášovice. Since then the area has been known for high-quality steelworking. Mikov has held its position through the turbulence of European history by investing in quality and functionality that serve hunters, electricians and collectors alike.
Today Mikov is a dynamic company that works with top designers (such as on the Pocket series) while respecting the classics. For many Czechs, its knives are part of their cultural heritage as well as tools. The best example is the "Rybička" knife, familiar from almost every Czech childhood.
Classic folding knives for everyday use and collecting, including the best-known fish-shaped knife in history.
High-quality "switchblade" knives known for their durable side-opening mechanism.
Sturdy, reliable knives for demanding outdoor and professional use.
Yes. Mikov is the original and only genuine maker of the Rybička knife. Beware of cheap copies: a genuine Rybička is made of high-quality materials and bears the Mikov stamp.
The basic models use 420 steel, which is easy to sharpen. The premium models (such as Predator Hammer) use Böhler N690 steel, which holds its edge considerably longer.
One of the Predator's best features is that the spring can be replaced without tools or taking the knife apart. The spring sits in a pocket, from which it can be pulled out and a new one slid in.
